My TiVo quit working on December 1. I went in to Comcast and they said there would be no more card upgrades. So that was the end of TiVo for me. I contacted TiVo about this and they refused to refund the unused portion of my annual subscription - which was about half a year. So, my advice is to quit TiVo before your next renewal date.
It is just a tech issue. This has been discussed. Give Comcast 1-2 weeks to fix it.

If you call the tech support rep or go in person then they will most likely not be aware of this and suggest you get there stream box.

Comcast is actively working on it as far as I know. I suggest you be patient for 1-2 weeks while they fix this. You can sign up for free trials of Hulu live tv, fubo tv, YouTube tv, dtv stream etc while you wait for the issue to be fixed.

The people who answer the phones or work the front desk at Comcast stores just have a script that does not apply to you. They know nothing about ccs. You need to be patient. If you must talk to someone you need to talk to someone in the cc department not a customer service rep.

Myself & others have gone into detail in other posts.

If for some reason they do not get the issue fixed in a couple weeks all you are out is spending time signing up for a free trial or 2.

This is not a quick fix. 1000s of cc customers are effected. They are working on it. Patience. After 1-2 weeks call the cc department and explain what’s going on.

If you want to save your TiVo you will need patience. You can also say screw it Im done with them which is understandable.
 
Agreed do not surrender cable cards.

This an example of 2 Comcast customers who live at different addresses.



Customer A TiVo with PKEY2.0.1_F.p.1101 still working.

Customer B has 2 TiVos. First TiVo: PKEY2.0.1_F.p.1101 not working.

Customer B’s 2nd TiVo PKEY2.0.1_F.p.1201 still working.

Customer b the SNR signal strength is exactly the same on both.
 
A few years back Tivo was suing Comcast over patents, and they settled that legal case with Comcast.

At around that same time I remember reading something about Comcast supporting cable cards until like 2032. I don't think that was binding or anything but for some reason that date was mentioned somewhere.

My area is really slow to upgrade things. I really do think cable cards working until 2032 is possible. I doubt Comcast will still have the same selection of QAM channels by then but I guess we'll find out.

And there is NO WAY CableCards will be supported until 2032 with ANY provider.
Once the FCC did away with the requirement for cable companies to support CableCARD, that was the beginning of the end for CableCARD. When the FCC dropped the CableCARD requirement, a Comcast corporate VP told me that they were planning to move to all IPTV "in the near future."

The requirement was removed 4 years ago.

Dunno what that VP considers “near future”.

Have they even taken steps towards an all-IPTV future in these past 4 years?
 
You can keep saying this, it doesn’t make it true.

You were not “cut off”. You had a technical error.

Comcast still supports existing cards in your area and their entire coverage area.

Although I have no confirmation of this, I've read in this forum (but not anywhere else) that Comcast is working on a fix, that may take up to two weeks. It's been over two weeks. @cwoody222 at what point are we allowed to change our language from "Comcast supports cablecards there is a technical error" to "Comcast bricked our cablecards"? Two weeks? Three weeks? Never?

“Cut off” implies some willful action that Comcast took to prevent a customer from using their leased equipment without notice.

That’s not what happened here.

Comcast continues to support all existing cablecard users in all markets.

Som unfortunate technical errors may not be able to be resolved and Comcast’s pre-announced policy of not supplying additional cards any longer may exacerbate those issues for some users.

Why not complain to the Better Business Bureau and/or the FTC? (The FTC enforces federal consumer protection laws that prevent fraud, deception and unfair business practices.) Both have on-line reporting options.
 
Someone mentioned in a thread that Comcast / Xfinity is planning to shut off all cable card at "some point".
While we all know / can sense this is coming (with Xfinity only supporting legacy cable card customers who are grandfathered in), the "at some point" mentioned obviously does not give any insight as to potential timing - e.g. is it next month, 6 months, 1 year, even 2 years etc...

Has anyone heard anything about an approximate timeframe when Xfinity will even disable / shut off customers' existing cable cards?
Even if nobody here has heard anything specific / rumors / information from employee contacts / friends who are employees etc. about any upcoming shutdown / disabling of cable cards, I am still curious to see what the prevailing sentiment is here about a potential timeframe is?

Even though some tell me it is not true, here in Monroe, LA when an area is seeing the V58 error, there is not support to get the unit to work again if you are a Xfinity customer.
