My A93 still works fine. Was bought new at end of April 2017.

One of the used A92 I bought as a spare from someone at work still works ok but occasionally has a boot failure where the front light stays on but in amber/orange. If that happens have to power cycle it to get it working. This problem started in the past few months.

I normally cut power to these (unplug or turn off surge protector) when I leave home and/or when I go to bed for the night.

One more used A92 bought as a spare from TCFer works fine at last check. It's been unplugged for weeks if not months. Will check again soon.

My A93 Mini is also working. Setup in May 2017 and been used constantly since then. It’s never been unplugged or without a connection (Moca) for more than a few hours.

I don't have a Mini but I repaired two Tivo Premieres with this issue (Boots to "Starting Up" and then crashes and boot loops) by reflowing the CPU. Might be worth a try.

Add my name to the list. I have 2 A92s (original owner from 2015) and one of them is now boot-looping. A couple years ago I bought a used A93 from "that auction site" added it to my service, connected it to my Bolt to test it, it updated and then went into storage. I pulled out the A93 to replace the dead A92, and so far, so good.

I'm now trying to decide if I should look for a used Mini VOX for a spare, or go with a network attached tuner.

Interesting comment about reflowing the CPU. I suppose enough thermal cycling of the solder connections would cause a bunch of them to all start failing at the same time, but some people report pulling Minis out of storage and they are still failing.

Does TiVo still offer refurbed VOX’s at discounted price, as replacement for the failed a92? One of my remaining ones just went went into the bootloop as well.

We’ll know once you call TiVo Support and reply back…

(there’s no way to know without contacting them, since policies can change and exceptions or mistakes can be made)

So far my A93 (original owner, ordered in April 2017) and the two used A92s I bought (one from a TCFer and another from a guy at work) all still work ok. The A93 is used pretty often and in cooler months, daily. It's upstairs where it's hot and thus not pleasant for me until I get the house cooled down w/box fans.

One A92 is just sitting unplugged the whole time while the other only tends to get use in hotter months like now as it's downstairs. I switch which one I use every few months.

I totally forgot about the intermittent boot problems on one A92 I mentioned in post 141. I'm using that unit now and for the past few weeks. It haven't seen that problem any more.

They all get plenty of thermal cycling (esp. the A93) as I tend to unplug them from power or shut of their power via surge protector when I leave home. I don't want to waste electricity at Pacific Gouge & Extort prices and if there is some limited lifespan in terms of (approximate) hours of some parts or maybe flash memory wearing out from too much writing, me cutting the power might save them.
