...doesn't exist.
For that matter, neither does the book series it's based on, The Moon is the Sun at Night.
For that matter, neither does the books' author, TJ Whitford.

However, Fox's new series, What Just Happened? with Fred Savage, which starts Sunday 6/30 at 9:30 Eastern, will deal with the show and its fan base. (It's a spoof of TV "aftershows" / analysis shows.)

I find it appropriate that it's on Fox, considering the network's history of announcing shows that ended up never airing (for example, Rewind, Manchester Prep, Septuplets, The Ortegas, Murder Police, and Our Little Genius.)

Too bad this thread isn't titled for the actual show. I watched "What Just Happened??! (with Fred Savage)" this week, and had mixed reactions. I liked the start, where they lead with the last scene from "The Flare" -- which looks more bonkers than the sci-fi description lets on -- but some of the banter was weak. There was too much emphasis on the actor and zero discussion of the episode they supposedly just watched.

Then the middle segment was a drag for me, in which Fred tries to visit Helen Mirren in places where she obviously is not. I cringed, then I fast-forwarded.

The final third was really the best, in which Rob Lowe and Fred talk about their time as child stars. Their friendship does seem genuine. (I really liked them paired on "The Grinder"). I was confused by the references to the book "The Moon is the Sun at Night" as a series of books; they only ever showed one volume, and the pre-publicity made it sound like a stand-alone novel. (Fake, yes, I know, but I want a consistent backstory to my meta-fiction.)

Overall, I will be watching another few episodes. I like the experiment, if not the execution.

the show is now listed on IMDB

I would love to find evidence of an extended "alternate reality" for all the fictional elements to this concept. As a marketing gimmick at the very least, the network should be hosting a fansite for the "The Flare" show. (Further research tells me the fake show was "teased on FOX social pages" which I must have missed.)
