I purchased a JVC TV a few years ago and connected it to the Tivo Mini in our bedroom. I remember it was difficult to program the Tivo remote to control the TV power/volume but I got it to work. Unfortunately I don't remember how. Recently my wife broke the remote and threw it away. We have several spare remotes floating around. I couldn't get the first one I tried to RF pair with the Mini. I found another remote and was able to get it to pair, it's a VOX remote with a Netflix button as well.

I tried the suggested codes for JVC TV's but none of those worked. I tried Googling for the codes, found a bunch, none of those worked either. The model number of the TV is LT-49MA875. I found an article explaining how to hunt for the code using 0999 and pressing Chan Up repeatedly until you hit the right one. That rung a bell and is probably what I did originally. I have tried that twice now with the new remote but have given up after about an hour each time. It's very frustrating not knowing if I have already passed the correct code but maybe went too quickly, or didn't have the remote pointed at the right spot on the TV at that time, etc.

Does anyone have a suggestion for what code to try? Alternatively, can anyone tell me how many codes there are to hunt through using 0999? If I knew that it would take X minutes to go through every possible code that would at least let me plan accordingly.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The likely issue here is that JVC is one of those "brand-only" companies when it comes to TVs in the US market, where the brand is licensed to a generic Won Hung Low factory in China to produce the TVs. So the JVC TV codes in the index could be for the original "Japan's Victor Company" sets, or the mid-2000's chinese OEM sets, or the new OEM set that you have. All different manufacturers, all different codes.

If you have the original remote, you could try to buy a learning TiVo remote.

Your TV uses a very common code (protocol JVC, device 8) that has existed on Tivo remotes forever. So one of the first few JVC codes should work. I suspect something is wrong in your programming procedure or you need fresh batteries or something is blocking the IR window on your TV, a soundbar perhaps? In any case, it doesn't take very long to go through all the codes.
