I have traditional cable (coax/CATV), and I'm using their (rudimentary) cloud DVR service on my Samsung box. So I think we've established that I should be using the Optimum app (rather than Optimum.TV app). I've tried both of those apps and I get the same error (posted above)

My experience calling support was beyond pathetic so I'm considering reaching out to the ItsOptimum folks on Reddit, but my brand new Reddit account is not allowing me to chat with them (yet?). I guess I could do a public post but I'd probably rather keep it private so I don't need to worry what info I'm disclosing.

Ah, technology... always such PITA :)

p.s. I do have Internet from Optimum also, but it's on a separate account so that might turn out to be a problem for the app to work right??
If your TV and internet are not on the same account then that is your issue. It needs to know if you are on your home internet or not in order to decide what channels to give your.

Am I the only one left running TiVo on Optimum, lol? Did all the Powerkey cards actually go down? My NDS cards which they said would stop working in 2021 are still running fine without any issues. Curious.

I’m in NY metro area, optimum’s historically Cablevision market, so not shut here (or at least on Long Island).
That’s surprising because the amount of vocal outcry seemed to indicate their most populous markets were impacted.

Certainly there were impacted customers downstate and Jersey area, because many posted. I could have sworn many LI customers commented.

Are you saying you don't have a powerkey card? If you don't have one of the cards that essentially had a built in fail date (sometime in Nov 24 I believe), then it wouldn't be too surprising that you are still up and running and will remain so until they kill QAM in your area.

But it was understood that they did kill QAM in most major markets, and especially downstate NY, Long Island, NYC, Jersey.

The did not kill QAM. You can still get Samsung cable boxes in my market in CT. You can also switch to IPTV with or without Fiber and use Optimum Stream (Google TV) or AppleTV.

They never sent you a replacement PowerKey card in 2021? PowerKey cards are dead.

Exactly. I’m running the older NDS cards that were supposed to be killed in 2021. At the time I figured I’d roll the dice and switch to powerkey cards when they stopped working. That never happened and the NDS cards are still working fine to this moment.

Man I wish I were you! I'm in CT and both of my mcards stopped working months ago. I'm assuming that means they are PowerKey cards? (maybe I should check) But even if I could snag some old NDS cards, would I even have any chance of them working in my Tivos? Would they have to be reprovisioned to work in my Tivo(s) and would that not be possible/allowed by Optimum?

They would need to be provisioned and it would not be technically possible by Optimum, assuming you’re in an area that Optimum ceased QAM service in (which up until this poster posted recently, it was thought to be ALL Optimum markets).

I would pay some good money to get my cablecard(s) working again inside Tivo(s). Otherwise they're probably gonna force me to go to YouTube TV and supposedly unlimited DVR capacity. I've been trying Optimum's cloud DVR which is both absolutely awful and expensive.

The NDS cards only worked on the LI systems that had the Sony boxes.

I'm enjoying my TiVo Bolt hooked up to an antenna. I also have an Optimum stream with cloud DVR that they gave me free for a year after killing my cable card and agree, I wouldn't pay $20-$30 a month for that set up.

Assuming all of the above advice is correct, that I can't get/make older NDS cards working in my CT-based Tivos, then Altice will probably have forced me to finally cut the cord and get YouTubeTV with their supposedly unlimited capacity (and better?) DVR service. And while doing that I'll probably switch off Optimum entirely and onto Frontier Fiber which is cheaper and faster.

If they hadn't axed mCard support, I'd still be relatively happy to continue the old status quo, which included periodic haggling with their retention dept to get discounts.

I would highly doubt you could get these old NDS cards. I received a letter back in 2021 that these cards would no longer function and must be replaced with the power key cards. I never bothered and the NDS cards were never shut down. I doubt you could even find anyone at optimum that would even know what you’re talking about if you inquired nor supply them if they did. BTW, my NDS cards are running in TiVo Bolts and Series 4 before that.
