I am in your exact position Chicguy. i had a working program but am now finding the newest version doesn't work. Some change has been made which prevents it from seeing the Tivo device. No amount of fresh installs by previous users, - i.e. users who know what they are doing, - can get it to work; though I dont know how many users this affects. And no one has chimed in yet with the standard answers when they dont know what is going on (put air in the tyres, disable hardware acceleration, delete all the old files, restart your computer, try to call Microsoft's tech support etc etc)

It is certainly a bit troubling that no one has any idea what is wrong. This was a great app

At this point, I'd suggest starting kmttg with the -d option (like c:\kmttg271\kmttg.jar -d ). This startup option dumps more information into the debug.log file (in the kmttg directory) which may or may not help folks on this forum troubleshoot the issues.

Oh I can see what is going wrong.I just dont know what to do about it. (And no one else had any ideas)

As to the other one, it seems to reside wherever the unzipped files are, - it says it is 2.5.1 but when I say yes to update to 2.7.1, it starts to download and unzip, but all the files are marked 2.5. and it then comes to a halt, having not seen the bolt with

You should be able to manually get a response from the Tivo to this command ( https://192.168.1.3/TiVoConnect?Com...nd=QueryContainer&Container=/NowPlaying&Recurse=Yes&ItemCount=32&AnchorOffset=0 ) from a browser. For example, if you paste this command into Chrome, you may get a privacy warning from chrome when entering the command. You can click advanced and then proceed and if that works, it should prompt you for a username/password. "tivo" for username and your MAK for the password should be entered next. If all that works, you should get an XML listing of your Now Playing List. I cut and pasted the command into my browser, changing the IP address and got the following
Code:

If you're not getting a response in the browser, kmttg will not work. The problem then is likely to be network related if your browser cannot talk to the Tivo.

I'd suggest manually downloading kmttg 2.7.1 directly from GitHUB ( https://github.com/lart2150/kmttg/releases/download/v2.7-l/kmttg_v2.7-l.zip ) and extract the files manually to the desired installation folder.

when I entered that command, all i got was THE CONNECTION HAS TIMED OUT

I did manage to update my 'installation' by going o thetemp directory where the 2.7.1 installation was put and copying everything there. I then went to my normal working kmttg directory

and pasted everything just copied into it.

now the app does start as 2.7.1 AND shows the Bolt nxt to files and remote in line 3.

But Bolt is still empty , - no content in table, -and wont refresh. it Still pretends I need to enter the MAK which I just entered and check the IP

I agree. Then just run it; do the tools & configuration over from scratch. I've never seen a reasonable system where that didn't work. In extremely screwed up cases I've been asked to fix I've deleted Java and reinstalled that too, but that's about it in terms of complexity.

EDIT: Simplicity is the key: like the suggestion to make it a simple direct subdirectory with no potential for complexity. No moving things around. No using any remnants of an old "installation" of kmttg (or Java if you have to go that far). Also, if there are any non-optimal or marginal or wrong configurations in the LAN, the Tivo will find it out. It needs to be a given that all is well and normal and standard before the "installation" of kmttg begins.

In your case either your LAN is set up for a typical 192.168.x.x or a less typical (but fine) 10.209.1.x. But you can't mix. Neither the Tivo nor kmttg nor most anything without complex setup is going to work across different subnets.

Sorry, all that achieved was to remove the BOLT from the third line. The app still cant see the bolt.

It IS now still confirming being 2.7.1 and installing tools successfully. It still ends up with this when loading the app:

Unable to load css file: C:\Users\Pearl\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp4_kmttg_v2.7-l.zip\css\default.css
Trying alternate default file: default.css
Unable to load css file: C:\Users\Pearl\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp4_kmttg_v2.7-l.zip\css\default.css

It can't be relevant that my ip is 10.209.1.1 and not 192.168.1.x, can it? Surely the install should pick that up?

It's likely an IP address settings. On the Tivo, navigate to the network settings and see what IP address your Tivo is using. If it's still 192.168.1.3, on your computer from a Windows command prompt, run the command; ipconfig and post the results. If your network is working properly, you should be able to ping your Tivo with the ,command ping <ip address> (example ping 192.168.1.3 ) from the computer from the command prompt. If the IP address on your Tivo is not 192.168.1.3, make note of the new ip address, try and ping that new ip address. If that works, try that new ip address in kmttg.

If your network activity between the Tivo and computer can be verified with responses to ping commands, then it is also possible that you may have mismatched MAK configuration. Check the MAK settings on the Tivo. On the classic Tivo interface, that's under Settings -> Help -> Account & System Info -> Media Access Key. I don't know how to get there on the newer Tivo UI as I don't use it. In kmttg, the MAK is under configure -> Program Options -> MAK. There is also a requirement that your Tivo is actively subscribed for file transfers to work,

I don't know but that directory (C:\Users\Pearl\AppData\Local\Temp\ ) may be problematic from a Windows permissions perspective. Try extracting kmttg to a simple subdirectory off the C: drive, like C:\kmttg\.

As I said, the Bolt seems to be on 10.209.1.127 but KMTTG setup is looking for it on 192.168.1.3
Maybe this is why the app can't see the Bolt?

It doesnt know to look anywhere nor search during setup for this and I can't see where to change the IP in any setting?? But updating tools completes properly without any error messages.

Is there a tool for searching to correct the IP? It isn't relevant that tools downloads from Sourceforge, not bithub, is it?

I just ran into this issue myself. I went into configure, deleted the one that wasn't working, then selected the checkboxes to search for new Tivos and use TivoBeacon instead of Bonjour. When I returned to the main interface, after about 10 seconds, I saw the missing Tivo appeared as a tab.

Alternatively, you can probably enter your IP address in the config.ini file manually, replacing the incorrect one.

Note, I'm also using 2.4p, as I copied in the certificate into that version (I figured it worked for me before, and appears to be a newer version than "L"...)

Well thanks for that. It fixed the problem. Actually I am not sure what exactly fixed the problem but it is now gone.

I tried to change the settings you mentioned in config and as soon as I deleted the wrong IP setting, the àpp crashed. 5 to 6 times. Usually accompanied by java crashing as well. But I changed the IP address manually in the config file änd restarted the computer, it started doing a gigantic amount of Windows updates and suddenly the bolt list populated!

Now everything is working fine and in 2.7.1

I'm puling my hair out with KMTTG lately, as I've read on this thread. It's free software so I guess I can't complain, but it used to work perfectly but now not so much.

QUESTION: I have a Tivo Bolt. I just want to be able to watch my Tivo Bolt recorded TV shows on my laptop. Is there any way to do that without using KMTTG?

What version are you using? If its 2.4p or earlier, then the security certificates had expired. Update to v2.5a-l or later.
You also didn't specify what is the problem, errors given out by KMTTG.
The only thing noted was it stopped working. So I assume its the older version with expired security certificates.

Post #13141 is about the latest version.

Yes, there are at least three ways to do that.

Works for me.

Refreshed my token in kmttg and MG3. Also logged into tivo.com
I don't know why but it keeps sending me to TiVo OS which doesn't have a way to log in???

I wonder if Comcast is doing it because all the PC's in the house go to the same page.

Nope, my cell phone redirects to the same page even with WiFi disabled? This is puzzling???

Something is broken in their site's country detection on many browsers. If you look closely, you've been redirected to www.tivo.com/gb . Chrome works for me, but my Firefox always lands on the /gb site which as you noticed, only talks about Tivo OS.

I tried to debug it for a while, but eventually decided I didn't care that much, and just used chrome. But they've got something really screwed up on their end.
