Looking for a replacement Verizon cablecard in MD

The cablecard in one of my TiVo units is only partially working. I tried the voice-operated activation method, providing the cardID, host ID and data value. It appeared to be successful except that the available channels still do not include many many that are part of my old HD Extreme plan (V58 not authorized). Via chat, an agent worked with the “internal team” to attempt to solve this. No luck.

A few weeks ago, I had a Vz tech show up and do the same thing. He noticed that the host ID and Data value did not match what shows in their system, even after he had someone try to overwrite those.

So it looks like the card has failed such that it won’t accept the correct channel provisioning list. As in other FiOS areas, they no longer keep any replacement cards. Which brings me to post on here.

Has anyone who has given up on FiOS who still has a leftover Verizon CC that they don't have to return?

First off, your card is fine. If the host ID and other values don’t match what’s in their system, that’s the problem.

No “failed” card can cause that.

Also, that has nothing to do with a channel provisioning list.

Second, your card must be obtained directly from your provider. Using someone else’s card will not work.

As CW says, that means the card is fine and neither the person the tech called, nor the chat agent is properly informed in how to pair a CableCARD in their system, the CableCARD is fine.
An improperly paired CableCARD will give you V58 errors on a subset of channels, it's the expected result.

The magic words (at least they were) was to call into support and ask for a cablecard "manual validation"

It has to be those two words - "manual validation" -- that helps them find the right incantation in their special book of support steps.

At least that's how it worked last time I did it ... was at least 2 years ago now.
