I replaced the SAT-520 DirecTIVO receiver with an HR 10 over a year ago. It's sitting in the original box and I don't know what to do with it. There seems not to be much interest in this item on E-Bay. I want to get another HD set for another room but am not sure I'll stay with D*. Can the Zenith be worked into a cable setup or is it strictly for satellite reception? (Probably a dumb question; I'm out of my element).

Thanks.

Nope. The Zenith is a D* receiver that happens to have TiVo functions and can't be used without D* (except to view previously recorded material). It does not have the capabilities to receive a signal from cable, Dish or any other source.

Guindalf, I think you must be confusing it with something else.

The HD SAT-520 receiver does not have an Tivo or recording functionality. It is an HD DirecTV receiver that also picks up over the air TV including HDTV channels. It can be used without DTV service for this free over the air channels via an antenna.

Another quick query.

Would it be feasible to wire this unit into a system including a new HDCP compliant monitor, a Mini MacIntel (when available) and a big external hard drive to record via MythTV? There's a lot of good digital content available OTA in my location. I've been using an ATI AIW card to capture some of it to a WINDOWS machine in another room.

Or should I address that to another forum?

TIA.
