Was trying to watch some YT videos on my roamio. Solid wired connection, regularly speed tested and always a solid 75mb speed. My YT video was laggy and was buffering, not really watchable. So I switched over to YouTube on my Roku. Also wired connection to same switch as Roamio and solid 80MB dl speed. The YT videos worked flawlessly on the Roku device.
Same thing in my master bedroom. My Roku TV shows flawless YouTube videos but my mini has the same laggy and buffering YouTube connection. I even switched the cables between the Roku/mini and no difference.
Why would the Roku YouTube videos be excellent and the Roamio/mini Youtube videos be so crappy when all connections are exactly the same?

Maybe, but my Plex and Hulu run on the Roamio/mini and I haven't seen these issues with them.

Could be that the YouTube app does not utilize resources well. I have found the Hulu app to run well on my Roamio but the Netflix app runs about like your YouTube app does. Can't say that I have ever tried the YouTube app on my Roamio...I pretty much do all my streaming from a Roku.

Seen this for years, abandoned Roamio and Minis for Rokus and my LG OLED's apps. It's simply that the Tivos don't have the HP to handle the apps.

You'll find that on Minis it works way better to avoid apps and the hard lockups that come with the earlier models. Just use them for Tivo functions.
