I was given as a Christmas gift from my wife an 80-hour 540 purchased from Amazon through Target that qualified for the rebate offer in effect for that time period. As this was TiVo number-3 and rebate number-2, I was prepared. I believe that I actually activated the 540 on Christmas day and have been using it actively since then. I prequalified for the rebate via the rebate website and mailed all of the applicable information on 12-27-2005. Looking at the rebate websire nearly a month later, the only information that shows is from my previous rebate from 2004. I would figure that after a month, I would be able to see something concerning the current rebate's status.

Now, I wouldn't expect the check in the mail at this point in time based upon my previous experience (although it would be nice), but would think I would have some type of rebate status. I have sent a message via the rebate web site. Other suggestions?

I sent my stuff in for the $150 rebate back in December and have since found out Tivo hasn't received anything. They are now telling me to resubmit it. So I faxed and mailed it all again. I heard this Tivo rebate is giving customers problems and now I believe it! I've already informed Tivo I will never purchase another Tivo product again if I don't get my rebate (not like they care).

After reading the last message, I decided to call CS and find out what is going on. While TiVoRebates.com says to wait 3 weeks, the message when I called was to wait 6 weeks before inquiring. It did mention a different website which is run by Parago. The website is rebateshq.com. It did say the same information as tivorebates.com but I'm glad to have another resource if needed.

I purchased my TiVo last fall sent rebate request in 9/20/05 and received the check on 12/8/05. I can not remember the exact date TiVo showed they had my rebate request but I am pretty sure it was in November.

So I am not sure I would start to worry yet, I have to believe Christmas was one of their highest rebate times (I know easy for me to say seeings I got mine).

Good Luck,

I bought my Tivo a week or two after they started the rebate offer and am finally getting around to sending it (yeah yeah I know) in even though I pre-qualified months ago. Do you have to send in the original receipt or is a copy okay since Target doesn't do rebate receipts? I'd rather not send in my original if I don't have to.

If you read the rebate terms, I believe that the language states that a "clear copy" of the purchase receipt and the UPC-code are acceptable.

Note that after filling out the email form on the rebate website yesterday, I am still awaiting a response.

I tried the Parago website and other than being really slow, it showed my rebate from 2004 and no information on my current one.

I think the fact that you completed the pre-qualification web form shows up immediately with a status of "Not Recieved".

Thanks. I read the blurb on the printout from the pre-qualification page and it just said receipt but after reading the fine (and I do mean fine!) print on tivo's website you are correct. a clear copy is also allowed.

edit: LOL. I just printed out the scanned imagine of my receipt and it printed a full 8.5x11. Guess I didn't need to scan at 200dpi to get a clear copy of the receipt.

Actually, it doesn't show at all, which is my point . After 30 days, there is no acknowledgement that it has been received. Good thing I sent copies and kept the originals. All of this rebate stuff could be being processed in Antartica for as long as it takes. Make that the moon. TiVo, I want my money and I want it now!

I *believe* that many of the recent rebates require that you have active service for 30 days. That may be part of the delay. Of course, that doesn't explain why they're claiming they didn't receive the paperwork.

THe latest TiVO "News you can use" advertises an 80 Hour factory renewed Humax DVD recorder for $149 after a $150 mail in rebate. Was tempted, but didn't know if that's a good deal, if the recorder is any good, and now I'm worried that I'll never see the $150 rebate. Any thoughts on any of these concerns would be welcome.

I think you guys should read your rebate forms:

"must be active for at least 30 days (beyond TiVo trial period) in order to be eligible for rebate."

So you are not eligible until 60 days after you activate service. Then:

"Please allow 10-12 weeks from TiVo or TiVo Plus service activation, rebate submission, and qualification for receipt of rebate check. "

So unless it's been over 3 months since you activated your TiVo service I won't worry much - it took mine 11 weeks which is just what TiVo said it would.

Good Luck

I'm currently in the rebate process. It's working properly so far, but it is painfully slow.

It took them the full three weeks before they recieved and logged my submission, and then a week of nothing. Four weeks after mailing, it has changed to "Valid, and awaiting scheduling for final processing" or some other such wording.

It's been like that for two weeks.

At least it's valid and approved, that's one big step. But I have a feeling it will still be another month before I see my check, at least. They don't seem to be in any hurry.

Boy is this a sore subject in THIS household......The wife is sooooo mad about this and the couch is getting lumpy.

I sent two rebates in two weeks apart and .....Silence.

So I email and get two "canned" responses from "Pamela" and "Sharon" that no mail in has arrived.....that's right either seems to have gotten to it's destination. Both had a FAX number to send to, which I did, adding a note to email me when they arrive......silence.

So I dig up a phone number and after a bit I get someone named "Martha" (that had a odd accent), she wagged her finger (over the phone) at me not to send a FAX addressed to a person, AS THEY WILL NOT GET IT?!?!?!?

So she had me re-FAX it to a "number"...that was three weeks ago... :(

Just to let TiVo know there are two people watching this and are souring to the TiVo rebate experience and are rethinking getting one..

I finally received and email back today after initiating a response on 1-27-2006:

Thank you for your rebate inquiry. We apologize, but we are unable to locate
your rebate submission in our system. Please allow up to 4 weeks from your
original mailing date for processing and an additional 2-4 weeks to receive
your rebate check.

Also, if your initial submission was not sent to our processing centers in
Texas or Florida, you should contact the store where you made your original
purchase to locate the correct rebate processing center.

We appreciate your participation in this promotion. If there is anything
else we can do to assist you, please contact us at
[email protected]. We are always happy to help.

As I recall, I mailed the pre-qualified rebate to the Texas address. I sent them an email back asking what should be done now.

Who at TiVo headquarters can assist with this madness? Note: service was activated on 12-25-2005, rebate was mailed 12-26-2005.

I decided to repeat the entire rebate submission process, including the mailing of all of the information again. Rebates are evil, discounted purchase prices are good. This is defintely the last TiVo that I will purchase that has a rebate.
