I'm not sure where to put this. All I know is I recorded something on my Bolt and, even though I record the 5:00 news every Monday and the 4:00 news every Wednesday, I'm still on the channel where people are arguing and it says "Maury" in one corner. I have to go to "My shows", select the 5:00 news--while it is still on--and watch live after fast-forwarding. I'm still having some signal problems at times and have to be able to check the antenna.

Not my fault! I put it where people could talk about shows where the Baby Daddy is named.

I'll post when I figure out how to solve the problem.

You have multiple tuners. When it records something it doesn’t change the tuner that’s displaying on your tv. It keeps displaying the last channel you were watching, which must have been the Maury channel.

In order to change to the tuner that’s recording your news you can cycle thru each tuner to find the one that’s recording the news.

??? You could still be rewound in the live tuner on another tuner.. or even if the tivo has to change channels on the tuner you are 'on', if you are behind "now", you can still go back and forth in that buffer -- until you go to a menu or hit the very end of the buffer...

is that what you're talking about? Also, if you hit RECORD to get a current show (not your example), you can sometimes get QUITE A BIT of previous buffer in the recording.. (which is kind of lame IMO.. I mean it's been useful sometimes, but it would seem SIMPLE to cut it off at the right place)

I always looked at that as a feature!:) There are plenty of times where I change channels and start getting hooked mid way through a show. Knowing that I can record the whole show (or backup to the start) is a major plus.

EDIT: But, I've never seen my TiVo record anything before the current show I'm recording.

EDIT: OTOH, I can easily rewind the 1/2 hour buffer, including the previous show if that is what you mean.

no I don't mean just to the start -- I mean even before that.. also sometimes when doing this, the record bar "grows live" each minute in a different way than a regular recording does..

e.g. you hit record from live TV on an hour long show, and you'll get maybe an hour 21 minute recording in the end.

I've never seen that behavior myself. And to my understanding, there is only a 30 minute buffer. I just scrolled through my channels and they are 30 minute buffers. So, if I hit record that is the max recording. As a test, there is a show that is 5 minutes long, and the buffer is 30 minutes. I just now hit record, and it chopped the buffer to 5 minutes, and the recording started at the beginning of the show.

There's a 30 minute *live* buffer.. But it's really (as far as people have guessed or possibly leaked?), it's really a so-and-so gigabytes buffer..
so the buffer "live" is shown as 30 minutes.. but when you hit record, it throws the whole buffer in the recording, so it can be a variable amount of time.

and I definitely see the growing time bar thing.. I THINK it's when you hit record on a show now.. then maybe go back to watch it from now playing?

Got yah, I wasn't aware of that. I was just going by the green timeline.

That is a useful feature if I forgot to start recording on time and I get lucky and have a channel with a buffer.

I think I found a way to make sure I am on the channel without having to select "play". One of my choices was to watch the show live, even though I got there by selecting a recording. Now I'm no longer ending up seeing whether someone is the baby daddy.
