Hey all, I'm looking to get a different receiver to hook up to the Series 3 and wanted to know if anyone has a Yamaha RX-V2600 or RX-V661 hooked up to it. I know it would sound good but I want to make sure that it has the compatibility to be able to let me use the Tivo remote to turn it off and on with the tv simultaneously. That's how my Denon receiver works now and would like to know before I make the purchase. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the RX-V2600. You can turn the TV and receiver on with the Tivo remote, but it will only turn off the TV if you hit the on/off button. I need to either manually turn off the receiver or use the RX-V2600 remote to turn it off.

I don't have that Yamaha but the Yamaha I have is problematic with the S3 Tivo remote due to the fact that it has separate discrete On and Off (well, it is called Standby). I could not get the Tivo remote to turn the unit both on and off. While others have said that they could do that. Discrete ON and OFF buttons, I gather, can be a pain for some remotes.

I purchased a Harmony 720 from Costco.

I like the Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS.

Sound great. Plenty of digital inputs and you can rename the inputs to give them friendly names. It also isolates the HDCP negotiation so that you can watch the analog outputs fine when the local HDMI is turned off.
