My mother just got a Tivo box this weekend and in the process of setting it up I came across the feature here of transferring recordings to a pc, and vice versa. I installed Desktop 2.5 on her computer and transfered one recording. I then selected an Mp3 to play on the Tivo box, again no problem.

But when I went and moved some video files to the "My Tivo Recordings" folder, the only video that was shown on the Tivo box was the earlier recording that I had transfered over. In TiVo Desktop it says it supports WMV, and Xvid. Two of the video files I know for fact were WMV and Xvid.

Is there any special reason these were not listed in the Now Playing List?

Desktop Plus???

There is a fee for the video encoding feature's version.

Look into Pytivo (quick search here) will do the same and more for free.

Kind of nice if they would explain that you need a Plus license for $25. Although the download page does indicate that you would need the Plus for transferring, it says nothing in the program itself, leading one to believe you can transfer these formats.
