X-Factor - The Winner

Was kinda surprised. I thought all along it would be Josh. It looks like Simon and Melanie were both pretty surprised as well.

And to think Simon just about blew it by not including her earlier.

I was definitely happy with the final 2... While I like Chris Rene a lot, he didn't have the voice that the other two have...

I would have been happy for either of the final 2 to win... Of the two, I was more leaning towards Amaro though...
Although I was also rooting for Josh and Melanie, I'm confident they'll both have good singing careers.

Wow, that Leona Lewis was awesome!! I had never heard of her before, but what a voice!

And as much as Nicole is an awful judge, she cannot take a bad picture. She is absolutely stunning. Paula is also holding up very well for possibly being twice Nicole's age.
I wasn't emotionally invested in the show after the judges bickering back and forth turned me off, so I'd started just ff'ing and watching just the performances. The last couple of weeks I wouldn't even watch complete performances.

I hadn't yet watched the finale or the results shows, but heard about the winner this morning when my alarm radio came on.

I'll watch the auditions next season to see if the show looks worthwhile, but wouldn't be upset if it never returned.

I agree - Leona Lewis is the winner of the first season original UK X-Factor.

I knew Melanie would win. Just like season 1 of AI - Simon Cowell HAS to have a winner who sells as a recording artist.

I thought the Christmas songs were great - Chris' version was pretty awesome.

I can't believe I am about to say this - I actually liked Justin Biener.

Astro with 50 Cent. Auto fast forward.

I skipped past the entire first hour just to avoid Justin Beaver. The sound cut out a few times during "Fiddy Scent" and I was wondering if that was the audio being censored because rappers love to sprinkle obscenities throughout their "lyrics". Seeing Asstro amongst the dancing hookers was a bit disturbing, but that is where he is headed.

I have seen a few rapper's videos and they were liberally sprinkled with profanities, mysogyny and porn.:down: I cannot respect that, yo! And knowing that young kids eat this stuff up gives me the chills. Young girls think that is the way they should behave and expect that sort of demeaning treatment from boys/men, and young boys learn to disrespect others, as Asstro demonstrated many times on X-Factor.
Didn't even watch the finale! We ff'd through the performance show and it finished at 9:53, so we just switched to live TV and saw the result.

Lost interest quite early on, so I doubt we'd watch another season at all.

And you honestly believe Simon's leaving her out of the final 16 was an "accident" or a "mistake"? (I just wonder if they didn't punish one of the other four who wouldn't have made it had Melanie been in the 16 and they had not made it 17 - they haven't released the Season 2 paperwork yet (although they are already calling for online auditions), but if they ban the 17 from auditioning again, then somebody got screwed out of a shot at coming back.)

Also, I wonder how the $5 million contract works - for all we know, it's "$10,000 per year for 50 years, but you can ask out of the contract after five years", or even, "$250,000 cash plus a $4,750,000 representation contract in which the money goes to us as payment for our services representing you."
all very interesting

Get off my lawn.
Chris grew on me as the show went on, but 3rd was his destiny. I thought Josh would win, because IMO he's more "original". Melanie can sure belt it out though.
I did get a kick out of the 'cry-meter' between Nicole and Paula when Nicole's count skyrocketed after the Rachel Crow elimination. :)

Apparently, cooler heads have prevailed - one of the items in the Terms and Conditions for submitting an entry in the online audition for Season 2 says, "You are ineligible to participate if you advanced to the level of Top 13 finalists during Season 1 of the Program."

(Yes, there would have been only 12 instead of 13 without the "mistake", but at least now, the eliminated persons were eliminated (at least in part) by the viewers...and didn't all four of the under-28 women make it into the final 10 (and, presumably, the tour) anyway?)
Has anyone seriously claimed that this was all rigged?

(I'm not saying that myself....)

But it is awfully dramatic.. Someone who's good is "accidentally" eliminated, brought back "against the rules" (my inference), and ends up winning the thing..

What do you mean by "all" rigged?

If you mean just the "Simon chose his four singers, then had second thoughts and brought back a fifth singer who ended up winning the whole thing," while Simon claims he legitimately made a mistake, there have been too many incidents in other shows (for example, in the Idol year when they tried "sing-offs", someone who appeared to be eliminated without being in a sing-off (it turned out she was, but it was edited to appear otherwise) was invited into the final group when someone else was disqualified) for some of us to take without a grain of salt.

As for rules, the rules can be changed at any time (it says so in the contracts every contestant has to sign), and technically, it's not a violation of the laws that were passed in light of the 1950s game show scandals as those apply only to "contests of intellectual skill" (although they probably would open themselves up to lawsuits if the final winner wasn't the one who got the most votes).

I am assuming that Simon is involved with this show for the same reason he was involved with Idol (as he told Larry King): to find singers for his record label.

I thought it was weird that Stevie Wonder was quietly wheeled away behind the stage.
