Right? Or compress them when syncing with a compatible device? Like a 4.0gb compact flash card in my Axim x50v? For some reason 3 gb tivo files are too big to fit on a 4 gb card. Doesnt make sence. Please help. I finally got rid of that damn "thrown an exception error" by wiping my computer and reinstalling XP and essentials. Now all my Tivo files are too big? I could just drag and drop the files on my CF card but no compression. I thought this was supposed to compress things when syncing? HELP!!! :(

I can't speak for your Axim, but WMP compress files when copying to my Creative Zen PMC, but only because the Zen forces it to. Since your Axim can probably handle them at full size and bitrate, it doesn't force WMP to re-encode them. If you want to compress them download the Windows Media Encoder. I don't have any SA TiVos, so I have no idea whether WME works with .tivo files or not.

You can also use PockectDivxEncoder and TCMCP. They work great, but you have to strip off the tivo DRM first. My files on my ipaq 6315 usually end up about 150MB an hour. Oh, and if you have audio sync issues, don't compress the audio. That's what I ended up having to do.

It worked great. Used direct show dump and then Pocket divx encoder to shrink files down to play on my Axim x50v. I love the fact that is has settings for different Pocket PC resolutions like my VGA PPC. Thanks a lot.

Glad you like it. It's worked great for me with the exception of the volume issue.

The problem is that your CF card won't accept large files due to the FAT32 file system. HOwever, converting is easy, so follow that route.
