I searched the FAQs and didn't find this discussed so I figured I'd ask here. I currently transfer shows from my Series 2 (TiVo brand) to my XP Media Edition PC using a Dazzle DVC 90, saving the files as MPEG-2, and then burn them to DVD with the Pinnacle software that came with the Dazzle. Because the TV, cable box and TiVo are on a different electrical circuit from my computer I experienced ground loop induced hum on both the audio and video.

I have remedied the audio problem by inserting a ground loop interruptor in the audio line but I will have to invest in 2 video baluns and about 40 feet of Cat5 cable to get rid of the hum bar in my picture. All that will cost me close to $100 so I figured it might be better to spend that money on a wireless network (I don't have one currently) and use TiVo2Go. I assume I can get a Wireless-g (with speed boost?) unit for the computer and whatever is on TiVo's list of compatible adapters for the DVR.

So my questions are these: 1. Will that work or will speed-boost throw a monkey-wrench into the works since TiVo seems to be compatible with mostly 802.11b and just a few 802.11g adapters?
2. Is there an advantage to transferring recordings from DVR to PC via a network vs. directly as I have been doing it?
3. If I do use TiVo2Go, will I be able to burn the transferred files to DVD using my Pinnacle authoring/burning software or will I have to get the Sonic MyDVD package mentioned on the TiVo website?

Thanks for any and all guidance you can give me.

1. It should work fine, but if the TiVo doesn't work with speedboost, you may find you need to turn it off. I wouldn't pay extra for it. If you find one that is fully backward compatible with wireless G, it should still work with TiVo normally and work faster with your computer assuming you put a speedboosted adapter in the computer.

2. You will get a digital copy with no generational analog degradation.

3. Probably not. The authoring software needs to be able to use the TiVo directshow filter to remove the DRM. Some things other than Sonic are out there that work, but I can't recall what they are. Hopefully someone else can answer that one.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll just wait and see if the version of Sonic that Dell supplied on my PC will do the job but somehow I have a feeling it will need to be upgraded.
