I just bought the new Tivo HD recorder ($299) and hooked it all up last night. It asked me to subscribe, and I just clicked remind me later. It seems to have full functionality with the TV guide and season passes working. The only thing that I dont see is the "download movies" feature (And yes I have the wireless adapter)

I Am wondering if this unit will continue to work like this, or if after a week or something it will shut down after nagging me to subscribe. Anyone know?

After about a week, it will function wonderfully as a doorstop.... a paperweight... a boat anchor....

The network functions take a while to start up.

I'd be surprised if the box didn't say "TiVo subscriptioin required".

No it will not work without a Subscription. Thats the bottom line.

Enjoy what you have now, for after the Week is up, it will be a paperweight.

I believe some of the internet and networking features require subscription to work.
