Actually, I believe it's because they want to run the remaining episodes consecutively, without reruns, with the season finale airing during May sweeps. Not very good results for a show that is knocking a critical darling off the air, and helping to keep other high-buzz and high-ratings shows off the air at the same time.
But such is life if you are a FOX viewer. They feed us crap because someone buys it, or because it's cheaper than other crap that they want to feed us but which we don't eat/watch.
