I just watched the season premier on NBC.com, and realizing just how far out there it is. I know it's been getting nutty for a while, but I can't quite pinpoint when it happened. Was it when Sam's husband bought the hotel? When Monica died? When Monica came in?

I could swear, it used to be good, once, I just can't figure out quite when it went south...

Edit-- rather, I am watching it as this was posted, still have half an hour to go.

It happened no later than Monica's first appearance.

I was expecting to kill the season pass after the premier, but decided Tom Selleck might actually be good for the show... he certainly does a better job running the casino already... if they can stop the secret agent storylines.

When did 'Las Vegas' jump the shark?.
Uhm, the first five minutes of the pilot?

I mean come on!

The first sequence is the Montecito Security busting into a guest's room because their super sophisticated security equipment detected a gun in there.
And when they bust in, Delinda and Danny are in the throes of Eros and she nonchalantly turns her head and says "Hi, Daddy!".

Come on!

I agree.....I don't look for anything realistic in a show like this. For us it too is a guilty pleasure. I also think Tom Selleck will be great for the show (maybe he'll sneak in a wear of the Tigers hat). So, my wife gets to watch and get all giddy at Tom Selleck and I get to watch and get giddy at all the boobs. It's a win-win as far as I am concerned.

I think it's a lot of fun. It's never been about being realistic. It's always been about the eye candy.

This season should be fun as they've gotten rid of Mary, who never had any reason to be there, and Ed, who made the plots even more ridiculous than usual.

I think this was one of the shows I was most looking forward to after the season finale last year. I mean, I don't think I've ever seen a season finale THAT outrageous, with THAT many crazy things happening at once and THAT many cliffhangers.

Of course it was ridiculous, but props to the writers of the series for realizing that their show isn't supposed to be realistic and making it as over the top as possible.

Las Vegas was always a "guilty pleasure" but it jumped the shark, IMO, when they brought Lara Flynn Boyle in as Monica....or more specifically, when she flew off the roof and flew into a shoe store and landed like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz.
