What's up with NASA channel?

1863 Views 11 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  JimSpence
Recently I've caught a black screen with the NASA logo in the upper right corner for extended periods on the NASA channel, and this evening I saw it go from regular programming to a blue screen to a DirecTV "difficulties" screen to the black screen with the NASA logo in the corner. Anyone know what's up?

I think they have a sat going through a black hole. :)
Sounds like their best programming yet. All they show is stock footage of objects floating in orbit.

You even bother to turn to it?
I tune to it if there is a shuttle mission (which has been once since I even knew I had the NASA channel) but other than that they dont have much to offer.
The New Horizons mission launch to Pluto was pretty cool. The Stardust capsule recovery was pretty neat, too. They should sell aerogel souvenirs. And that was just in the past week or so. But if you don't care about that, then, you know, you don't have to watch. Or read this thread.
I had meant to watch some of the Nasa programs on the stardust capture.. forgot and now I'm watching the science channel's "Catching the Comet".. pretty neat stuff..
Yeah watching the Stardust capsule recovery was pretty cool. Shuttle launches and landings are pretty cool too. Blowing up is not cool but you get a lot of information quickly when it does happen on the channel.

I specifically had D* install the 3 LNB dish (for free I might add) with only the 2 LNB's (long before I got HD) just to get the NASA channel.

Even the canned reruns of past events are informative, I've learned a lot of things that weren't publicized at the time and other things I just did not know. Lot of things went wrong in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo days and they just kept flying. Sort of amazing we made it to the moon and back without loss of life. (While flying and not sitting on the pad.)

Are you sure we ever went to the moon? ;)

And there was no Holocaust either. ;)

I used a spare round dish for 119 to get NASA back before DirecTV moved it to 101.
