Every time there's a power outage in my area, it's always a hassle to get the Minis up and running again, after power is restored. The Minis displays a message about not being able to connect to the host DVR, or something of that nature, even after power cycling them. The host TiVo never has any issue.

However, it seems like if I just wait for upwards of 30 mins to one hour, and try to power cycle them again, the issue will be resolved.

The host is a Series4 (issued by the cable company) connected to an Arris modem via MoCa. I also have a NetGear Nighthawk router, if need be.

I'm sure there has to be a quicker way to get them connected. My initial reaction is that it has something to do with IP addresses conflicting, but I haven't had much chance to troubleshoot this, without inconveniencing a household of people.

And put that Mini on a UPS as well. You can get one unit that will service the Mini, TV, and several other peripheral devices. If you put the Mini on battery back-up and the TV on surge-protection only, then you won't need a very large UPS to manage them.

Am I supposed to do that from the host or Mini?

I unplugged host DVR from the wall for 30 seconds, plugged it back in, waited for it to reboot. Then went to the Mini and did the "connect to TiVo service". It worked, at first. I did the whole thing over again, to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and it was UNsuccessful.

Over the next 45 minutes or so I did a combination of many things in various orders, such as "connecting to TiVo service" from host and Mini, power cycling both, power cycling modem, using the "restart box" option from the menu. Nothing worked.

I looked at the TiVo status and it said "succeeded", the MoCa link status says "up"; I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Finally, on the host DVR I did the "connect using MoCa" (wasn't I already using MoCa?), went through the whole wizard, and after it was finished, the Minis were working again.

Not sure if this was a coincidence, but as I alluded to yesterday, things typically seem to work again after about an hour. Although, I must have power cycled the host 2 or 3 times during this process, so each time I did so it should have "reset" the time that I had to wait for it to seemingly "fix" on it's own.

That sucks that you have to do this at all. I often power off my TiVo mini via a power strip when I'm asleep, can't watch TV or will be away from home.

Once the mini is fully booted, aside from some possible hiccups in playing the shows from the host TiVo initially, I have no such issues.

Basically, in most cases my TiVo is intentionally powered off at least a few times a week and I don't put it on a UPS either. It's on my network w/an official Bolt+.

Both, so they can have internet/network access right away. Or, wait a while longer for them to do it themselves.

The issue he's talking about is when the Tivo reboots with the Minis after a power outage, not the Minis alone.

The easy solution is not to let the Tivo reboot.
