Why?
I have Blockbuster and Tivo. I would love a way to integrate my Blockbuster account and Tivo using my wireless network.
I also have a Mac. I have no desire to use Movielink-- I don't want movies in Windows Media player format. I want to watch movies on my TV, not my computer.
I'd be all for some sort of Blockbuster/TiVo agreement such as they have with Amazon, but I would be very skeptical about an acquisition.
I've had experience with a couple of smaller companies that were merged with and/or acquired by larger companies (Fortune 10 sized) and nothing good ever came of it. I survived all of the commingling but many, many good people (many with brilliant minds) lost their jobs and the quality product that was the core of the company vanished in the shuffle; just another "department". Concepts and patents are often stripped and the rest of what's left is sold off or consigned to the scrap heap.
Innovation and creativity rarely come from large corporations. I'd like to keep TiVo free from the cookie cutter dogma that drives companies like Blockbuster for as long as possible.
