I just got a quick question for everyone. I will be moving from my summer dorm room on campus this weekend to my senior year residence in an apartment. What is the safest way to turn off a Tivo before unplugging it and can you even do that?

All I see for options in Standby which isn't totally off and it still could be recording, or restart. I'm just worried about pulling the power cord to shut it off, as it might cause damage to the disk. Thanks=)

believe it or not the answer is "just pull the plug" then wait a few minutes for the HD's to stop spinning.

The Tivo file system is more then capable of dealing with that.
