Could someone please let me know what file formats Tivo supports. I have a series 2 which currently plays Mpeg 2 files from my computer but I want to switch to DivX format, or possibly Windows Media format, because of smaller file size for the same quality.

For anything other than MPEG-2 files (i.e., .wmv) you'll need to upgrade to TiVo Desktop Plus. There is no DivX support, but you could try TiVo.Net or pyTiVo (both of which are free and support a wide-range of formats).

If you don't want to upgrade to TivoDesktop Plus, google "Videora Tivo Converter".

It's a free program that converts videos (not sure what formats are supported - you'll have to do your own homework on that) into proper Tivo format.
