The ? Is what counts. It means your CableCARD isn't properly validated by the cable company and you won't get premium channels. Take a look at the first post in the Elite initial impressions thread for more.
What does the VAL mean in conditional access
I got a Elite yesterday. I picked up a cable card also. I set the tivo up stating that I will install the later. I got all of the updates and then installed the card. It turns out that was bad so I went and got another one. This took the pairing ok and the channels that I suppose to get are working ok. On the conditional access screen it has this con: yes EBCP: yes val: ? 0x17. What does all this mean?
