I just read that there is a way to make a backup of your DTV Tivo unit to your PC.

I was wondering if this same procedure would work for a DTV HR-250. Would this then backup all my recorded shows as well?

Also, I noticed that the hack is done using Linux. Does this mean it could be done under Mac OS X? If so, does anyone know how?

What I'm trying to do is get the programs off the unit so I can upgrade it to the latest Tivo software, as DTV is refusing to update the software.

Thanks!

All My Best,
Jeffrey

Bumping is rude. As for your DTivo - what version of software is on it now? Why do you think DTV is stopping your unit from updating?

Sorry about the bump.

It's v6.3d which DTV says is the final update for all their Tivo units, which have now been phased out.

I just want to get my programs off it and saved so I can update it myself.

I have a PC if anyone knows how to do it that way. :)

All My Best,
Jeffrey
