How do I watch my recorded shows while away from home? I thought I could go online on my laptop and watch, but my shows aren't available for streaming while away from home. What's the best way to do this?

What Tivo units do you have? How are they connected to your network? You would not be able to watch out-of-home if they are connected by wifi.

I have an Edge and several minis. The edge, at my home, is connected to the coax, and the minis are connected through MOCA (coax). When I'm away from home, going to tivo online in a browser, I can see the recordings listed, they just won't play saying that I can't stream while away from home.

I think you would need a Tivo stream (discontinued) to be able to stream (or was it just for portable devices).

Why do you think that? The Bolt and Edge have streaming built-in (no Stream required).

To the OP. Have you set up streaming with the mobile app? I've not had very good luck streaming through my browser away from home but it has worked with the mobile app with my Roamio Pro.

I setup streaming on my phone while home, now that I'm away it's asking me to do it again and saying I have to be home to do it (catch-22). Even if that worked, I'd have to watch on the phone since I can't get tivo to cast from the phone to a chromeast on the TV anyway! Any help appreciated.

I have a desktop PC running at my main home and use Chrome Remote Desktop to access it when we are at our summer home from another PC. When connected I can use online.tivo.com to watch my recorded shows that are available to stream from either the Bolt or Premiere (I have a Tivo Stream too). I have 125Mbs upload at my main home and 115Mbs download at the summer home. It works amazing well, even in full screen mode.

Wow great that you can use a RD solution for that, but I can imagine it's an edge case. Lots of folks will find that it won't work well at all.
