Watching other chanels?

Hi there all,

I am a Tivo newbie so please forgive me if my question is stupid. I was wondering if there was anything you could do to the Tivo (in setup or something) to make it so that you can watch one channel while recording another? That is the one thing we currently find frustrating about Tivo. Please let me know if there is anything I can do or change to be able to do this.
Also, if this isn't possible, do you know (or have you heard) if they are working on an upgrade or something that can make this possible?

:p Thanks :)

If you are recording, you cannot change the channel or you will interrupt your recording.

There are other ways to do this like splitting the signal before the cable box and then running the second line to your TV but then you lose access to most of the digital channels.

The best way to live with Tivo to to time shift everything.

There isn't a dual tuner standalone Tivo on the horizon.
This is the official thread about watching something live while recording something else. Hope it helps. If not, see one of the threads about S3 TiVo.
Thanks so much for linking that other thread! That was a big help!

Glad to hear it. Good luck with the set up.
