Glad to have it back!

So, were the three zombies in the church a bride, groom, minister? I guess no runaway bride there. More like a lumbering-fairly-slowly-away bride if anything.

The herd of zombies was pretty creepy!

Surely they won't kill of the little girl and the little boy, will they?

An enjoyable episode, but it was really a 60 minute episode stretched out 30 minutes too long.

Good to see it back, though.
I had three problems with this episode.

1. The herd of zombies sure did sneak up on them despite the fact that they were watching on the roof of the RV with binoculars. It didn't make a lot of sense. They should have seen them coming from a mile away.

2. The kids (the boy especially) has noticeably aged. I don't see how they are going to keep that up. They either need to speed up time or kill the kids (which very well may be the case).

3. AMC sure seems to hate women. They write the most awful women characters I have ever seen. Lori is a terrible mother. First she won't let her son have a weapon to protect himself but then she allows him to go searching off in the woods when she knows full well there are zombies out there????

This. The number of commercials was insane. Even with fast forwarding it was distracting to have the story broken up so many times.
The scene where they're, uh, searching the zombie for Sophie is possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever seen on TV.

Which is impressive, considering they did it almost entirely through sound effects and Rick's reactions.
Agreed that it seemed stretched. Also tons of commericals.

I don't get what the boy was doing with the deer at the end. Why was he walking up to it? And was the dude with the Shotgun really going to kill it? (when they can't shoot in fear of alerting the hordes?)

Yes, the boy was just seeing how close he could get I believe.

And it was just sloppy writing or good writing of a stupid character for wanting to shoot the deer. They were all carrying knives, crossbows, or machetes so that they wouldn't have to use their guns except in cases of emergency.
I'm glad to have it back too, but I have a complaint as well.

It annoys me to no end that they keep using the RV breaking down as a plot device, and they keep talking about running out of water and/or food.

Really! REALLY! DUMP THE LAME ASS RV! There are only about 10 Million other RV's around, TAKE ONE!

If you are running out of food and water in a post apocalyptic world, you aren't scrounging right, do better.

Oh and seriously, driving into that traffic jam is just moronic, because they don't have the fuel?! Jesus, you guys suck as scrounging.
New writing team, same bad writing. Perhaps it's the fault of the source material? I think I may start rooting for the zombies. Or maybe the racist.

I was waiting for a group of zombies to suddenly appear in the forest and grab and eat the kid when he was walking toward the petting zoo deer. A plea for divine assistance will naturally be met with some sort of senseless tragedy in a show as nihilistic as TWD. Plus, they needed to get rid of the growing kid. Taller Ghost Carl?

I rather liked the church tableau except for one thing. Magical monsters that appear on the highway I can accept, but a crucifix in a Southern Baptist church?
I love that there is a mainstream zombie show with a decent budget on TV, but I just can't get past the stupidity of these characters. I get that it's all traumatic and they're trying to find their place in this crazy new zombie world, but they've had plenty of time to pull their heads out of their collective @ss3s.

Don't shoot the guns 'cause the zombies will hear. But feel free to drive around on a Harley with straight pipes.

Yeah kids, go wander around, just don't wander too far. We have no idea what's hiding in this traffic jam, but feel free to just poke around. Stay close!

Yeah, the RV thing is just annoying as hell. Get a new RV! And guess what, they even come with showers and air conditioning now. Or you can continue to drive around in that piece of crap that breaks down every 10 miles. Your call.

Dumb show.
Someone mentioned the cruicifix in the Baptist church. So now for the second thing. Why did they encourage the boy to approach the deer? Deer can be very unpredictable especially in the wild.

Just a question did the bullet pass through the deer or the boy? It looked like someone shooting the deer from the other side accidently shot the boy. Unless they have an operational trauma hospital pretty close, that boy does not have much of a chance. Cowboy movies call it "gut shot" and I don't remember anyone surviving it.
Some very bad writing in that episode. And hardly anything happened anyway. The girl went missing and the boy (maybe) got shot. what else? Nothing moved the plot along.
My guess is that allowing the boy to get close to, and perhaps pet the deer was intended to heartwarming experience and moment of peace, during a stressful, troubled time, especially after the boy got yelled at earlier (oh yeah, and that whole zombie thing).
"Maybe" got shot? Is there any way he didn't?

A shot rings out, the boy falls unconscious to the ground with a wet red spot spreading across his shirt...I'm not sure what other interpretation of events there could be!
I get deer in my backyard all the time and I have NEVER got that close to one. As soon as they see or hear me they high tail it out of there.

A year or so ago, my friend was telling us about a young deer that walked up to his grandpa's ( whom is also his next door neighbor) back door and let him pet it. While we were there that weekend hanging out in the back yard, that deer them walked right up to us while about 6 of us stood around and petted it.

Anyone watch Talking Dead? Wonder if they nitpicked it at all or if it was just a circle fanboy panel or something.
I was worried about this show since the show runner got fired. A show like this needs smart writers because it can go from being good TV to being yet another campy zombie show real quick.

I forget all the character's names.

Didn't they point out last season that the zombies could smell? You'd think the herdof zombies would have smelled them.

The token black guy gashed in his forearm pretty good on (what looked like) a windshield wiper. I thought he was going to pass out from loss of blood, or the zombies sniffed him out and he'd be dead.

Glad the show is back! Not sure the story benefited by adding an extra half hour. I'm sure AMC benefited financially with all the extra commercials. I just think that if you're going to extend an episode, have enough story to fill it. Unless the story has me fixated on whats going on it can start to feel long.

Unless we move forward in time I think this season will focus on saving the Sheriff's son, and what the CDC guy said to him at the end of last season.
I think the CDC guy told the Sheriff that everyone is already infected. That once you die, the infection will reanimate your corpse.

How about...

I agree that the writing has gone downhill...at least so far this season. The sad thing is, this episode was written by Robert Kirkman, who created and writes the comic book...which is far, far superior to this episode. And far superior to last season, but far, FAR superior to this episode.

I just hope the show doesn't rub off on the comics, and that the comics start rubbing off more on the show. And that we won't miss Darabont as much as it looks like we will.

If your spoiler is correct then how come the dead people in the cars didn't well you know?
