video signal was unavailable

My S3 has started getting the "this program was not recorded because the video signal was unavailable" error on certain shows. It has happened on the same show the last two weeks, while at the same time recording a show on the other tuner. Then I realized that it didn't record another show with the same error night before last. My signals are good on both tuners and I can't figure out why it's happening. I rebooted after the problem last Thursday and it did it again about 4 days later. It's quite infrequent but has never happened in the past.
Anyone else run into this or have any suggestions or thoughts?

You using Cablecards?
same here, for the past three days in a row... Was forced to do a restart to re-acquire the signal, each morning... Hence have had no recording since Tuesday night...

What good is this Tivo, other than a drain on my electricity
I am having this same issue on three channels only on my TivoHD. MaxHD, StarzHD & ShowHD.

I keep receiving the message in to do history that "this program was not recorded because the video signal was not avaialble. And I do not receive these three channels live even though they show as 100% on strength meter.

This does not happen on any other channels. And I am subscribed to these 3 channels and receive them on my Tivo S3 fine.

Is this a CC problem or a Tivo problem.

Should a do a system restart or call Comcast?? Or is the TivoHD defective.

So, after a week or so of Dexter & Brotherhood not tivoing on ShowtimeHD (877) here in Boston on my new TivoHD - I finally figured out that I am not receiving ShowHD, StarzHD or CinMaxHD on my new TivoHD. I am subscribed to them with Comcast and signal shows at 100% strength.

I have not had the time to check my ability to receive and tivo all other channels, but I can tivo 2 channels at the same time (ex. HBOHD and CBSHD).

I am not sure if this is a hardware issue (more likely not) or a Comcast or CC issue.

I just went into System/Diagnostics and Tuner 0 is showing an association with CC 1 and that CC 1 is an M-Card. Tuner 1 is shown as an association with CC1 also with CC 1 being an M-Card. CC 2 is shown as an S-Card operating normally.

Is this correct? And if it is not, why would only Starz, Cinemax & Showtime HD channels be affected??

When Comcast installer came he installed 2 CC cards. I asked him if they were both M cards and he said yes. I then told him that he only needed one M card with the TivoHD. He indicated that he had just done another TivoHD CC install and that 2 M cards were necessary since the Boston Comcast system was not yet set up for full M card capability/use.

Should I try a system reset?

Any suggestions/thoughts will be appreciated.

Yes, I am. All appears correct with the cards.

The crucial sentence here is I do not receive these three channels live. That sounds like a CC problem to me. If you could receive them on live TV but not record them, that would be a TiVo problem.

Call Comcast.

I don't have that info on my diagnostic screen. FWIW, I just got this for the first time last night with a replacement series 3. I was watching the tonight show in HD, hit the record button and when I went to watch this morning it said it was unavailable. I used NBC last night since Las Vegas recorded just fine.
Adding insult to injury...

Was viewing a program on channel 733 yesterday morning at 7 am... Thirty minutes in the program locks up, stops recording...

Located the program in the "To Do List"... reported program could not be recorded due to signal not found
Comcast computers are finally back up.

Reauthorization of CC's fixed my issues.

At least for now. :)

Good news, were you able to get the cards paired over the phone ?
I'm still having this same issue. It's happened again, at the same time for the third week in a row. I was actually home this week and the program it was trying to record was blank, and all encrypted channels seemed to not be behaving. I'm not sure when it would start working again but a reboot seems to fix it.
Any thoughts?

I think you might be experiencing one of the (apparently many) bugs in the 9.1 software release. It's possible that upgrading to 9.2 will help.

The best hope you have of speeding up your upgrade to 9.2 is to go to the priority page:

www.tivo.com/priority

and sign up by providing your TiVo Service Number.

I'm having similar problems on my S3, and I just signed up on the page. I'm going to go force a connection now and cross my fingers.

If you're not using 9.1 already, I have no other suggestions, sorry.

I had the same problem, just got 9.2j and this seems to have fixed it. I just recorded 2 shows at once with no issues

SA cablecards, S3, component video
Did anyone have a problem with this "Signal not available" issue yesterday?

I missed the Nascar race because it would not record...

Since this issue cropped up I've had to reboot 8 times now...
I've recently been upgraded to 9.1 software from 8.3. I had the issue before with missing recordings due to video signal not available and I *still* have the issue. I've requested 9.2 on the priority page and plan to put a call in to Charter to see if there is anything at their end that they can do. This is week 4 of this debacle. I might as well just start watching live tv again...
