Video Preview Preferences

With version 20.2 we now have a forced, small video/view window on the guide, that can't be turned off or made as the background, and does not honor the "video window" on/off setting. And we have the same small, video/view in the rest of the HDUI that DOES honor the "live preview" setting, so it can be turned off, although never made as a large background.

I will assume that the idea of a large, background, video/view is not really practical from a programming or ergonomic standpoint, anymore. But I am curious about people's opinions about the situation.

Read the poll carefully, it is a bit complex because it allows multiple selections, and your answers could be in conflict with themselves :) But I didn't want to have multiple polls...

I think think the number of options in your poll proves why they didn't create a new set of preferences. The guide is no different than before. It is a part of live tv. It doesn't "spoil" anything.

The number of options in the poll becomes apparent when you see I am really asking several questions in one poll. But that is funny!

Actually, it is very different than before in many ways. And no, it is not part of live TV. If you are watching a recording and press "Guide", your video will be showing your recording, not "live TV".

I never said it spoiled anything :)
I can immediately see there are problems with not only the forum posting software, but also trying to combine questions....

The second person that voted, apparently selected NO options (and the forum software let them!), so answers went to 50% on anything the first voter answered and 0% on things he/she didn't answer. Hmm. Statistics are a wonderful thing. Guess we just want and see what we get and what it all might mean.
I like the Video Window and wish it was larger, But

Pretty much this. I have said it several times, but this is how I think it should work.

If you have the option on, leave it as is.

If you have the option off though and hit the guide button while in the menus, you shouldn't see the preview window in the guide. If anything they could display two suggestion boxes for hot on now or whatever they call it.

If you are watching live TV or a recorded show, then I am fine with the guide window since you were actively watching something.
