Sure you could convert them using media converter thats what I use to watch just about any type of video (.avi, Divx. etc..) on my S3 if you can turn it into a .mpg or .tivo you can stream it to your tivo using tivo desk top.

Not sure about macs I guess you can do some searching on the google but after you convert the file you just have to put it into your tivo desktop video folder..and if its a .tivo or a .mpg you will see it on your tv. Under NPL then you click on your server running TDT.

You could use software to automatically convert to TiVo format. On a Mac you can use Visualhub, to grab video from one folder convert it and drop it in a new folder. Then set your podcast aggregator to download to the source folder and set TiVo desktop to grab from the destination folder.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this a way to provide a work around to TivocomeBack on the Mac on the S3 (which is not available)?
If you can access video podcasts from itunes via the S3 then why do we need Tivo comeBack. I have not tried this, but I'm going to now.
Also note that video podcasts in iTunes can be in HD:

So couldn't one just add movies as podcasts to iTunes? All that is needed is to Tag the video as a Podcast for it to be viewable on the S3.

All of this is conjecture, but shouldn't it work?

iTunes Podcasting formats, etc.

Again, I have not tried this yet, but in my TV Desktop Panel (on my Mac) it DOES show Podcasts, Movies, and TV Shows as "checkable" items under the Music tab for Publishing items. Would they not be playable on the S3 as long as they ar in a Format that the S3 can play (and they have no DRM)?

hmm tried it. Even though the video podcasts are in mpeg 4 they are not recognized by the S3. Bummer.
I wonder if the S3 deals with the recognition of these iTunes files based on the file type or based on the type of enclosing folder/playlist(music/MP3 folders vs. mpeg4 folders), and if there is a way to trick the S3 by modifying file/folder attributes on the OSX side rather than the S3 software? (just thinking out loud)

The S3 TiVo cannot transfer the video content, simple as that (read elsewhere about S3 and MRV/TTG).

If/when it gets enabled, it should accept podcast transfers from your PC or Mac.. In the meantime, you can see what TiVoCast has to offer.
