Video Out Stops Working DSR708

Hi All,

I have a DSR708 where the video out to the television has started to go black. The audio works fine. The Tivo works fine too. It records shows correctly (video and audio). After rebooting the device, the video will work fine from 15 minutes to half a day before the video goes to black.

I have eliminated the cords and the TV's video in as the culprit. I believe it has something to do with the Tivo's video composite out. Is this something that is fixable?

The fact that the video works for a while upon reboot makes me think there is a loose connection or perhaps something that heats up and stops working, but I'm guessing here.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Is it just the composite video out?

Have you tried the S-Video out?

Have you tried the RF channel 3/4 out?
It is all 3(composite/S-Vid/RF) video outs. I have tried all 3 separately with the same result. The video is there and working upon power cycle, but blinks out of existence. It is basically at the 10-15minute mark now that I'm losing the video.

But again, the DVR is working perfectly. It's recording everything on the Season Passes with video. :)

All of those are analog outs, so I'm guessing something's going wrong with the Digital to Analog converter. Since an integrated circuit that actually goes bad stays bad (they don't heal), perhaps it's a power problem, a bad solder joint that opens up when it warms up, a capacitor on its last legs, et cetera.
