I'd wanted to use my series 2 tivo to encode some old VCR tapes. I connected the VCR in place of my cable box using the RCA inputs but the Tivo isn't reading the VCR output correctly. Every second or so the signal drops out. Anyone seen the before and found a solution?

these aren't commercial, macrovision-protected tapes, are they?
not sure how reliably tivos handle weakened sync
