Hey all-
Brand new Tivo HD owner as of today.

Question for you - in the System information screen - there is a section called "VCM Connection" - it looks like it tries a "connection" every 5 minutes - but does not "succeed".

All other connections work - i'm hooked to my home network via the USB wireless adapter. I was just curious what this VCM Connection was, and if it's an issue that I'm not seeing a successful connection.

VCM = Video Channel/Content Manager

It's what checks for and fetches TivoCast content, Online scheduling events, Unbox stuff, etc.

So if I schedule a recording from the web, VCM should show an updated date/time in the last successful connection line?

As long as your broadband connection is working, don't worry about it.

It never works for some people and they have no problems whatsoever with unbox, etc, so I wouldn't worry about it. It is not even clear if the information on the VCM screen is even correct.
