I recently had a cable outage due to a storm and services were restored. Since that time channels 24 and 25 do not come in and I get the message “Problem with the signal on this channel. Trying again (V53)”. If I look at the channel strength it says 100% but still doesn’t come in. I’ve rebooted a number of times. TiVo support had me unplug both cable and power lines and reboot and confirmed my cablecard was properly connected. This didn’t help and then they suggested calling my cable provider (Optimum) to “refresh the signal”. I called Optimum several times and finally spoke with a supervisor who reset the code for my cablecard twice and still get the same error. Any other ideas of what to try?

The signal strength seems too strong and that can also cause the issue. What is the SNR?
You could try some attenuators to get it to about 90-95%.

I'm not sure what causes a V53 error but the other poster is correct, a signal strength of 100% can be trouble. The TiVo is saying 100% but it might be 105%, 110%, who knows. TiVos don't like it when the signal is too weak or too strong.

You probably don't have any attenuators to try. I daisy-chained a few coax splitters until I got my signal strength down to 90 to 95%. Each coax splitter will drop the signal either 3.5 or 7 dB. Then I purchased a variety pack of attenuators to use. Easy to use, just mix and match the different values to get what I need.
