Hope you smart people can help guide me...

I have two Series 1 DirecTivos, one HDTV, one standard. The only HD I get is OTA from an antenna. I have an old 18" round dish on the roof.

I currently get the MLB package, which is about half of my rationale for D*. The other half is my Tivos, which are six years old and running strong.

We have about 15 hours of programming on the Series I we'd like to maintain access to. Transferring to video is no good. Open to a DVD transfer, but not sure how that would go.

I don't see any way to get to my goal state: Tivo, DirecTV HD with the new channels.

With the Series I boxes, am I a candidate for the $19.99 HR20 upgrade (or is that only for HR10s)? I've been with D* for nine years.

Thanks!

You can always try to get a cheap upgrade - doesn't hurt to ask. The only way you can maintain access to the existing recordings is to keep the box. It will still play even without a satellite connection or service (Press the TiVo button to skip the "searching for satellite" message.)

There are no Series 1 DirecTV HD-TiVos. The only DirecTV HD-TiVo (HR10-250) was a Series 2 based model.

Yes there is no way to have all three of DirecTV, TiVo, and all/recent HD. You have to give up one of the three, and that may not even be a guarantee (with some cable providers choosing SDV for HD and some SD channels.
