Upgrade Premiere Elite to 3TB?

Has anyone tried to throw a 3TB drive in the Premiere Elite yet and see if it recognizes the additional capacity?

Thanks,

I think jh was going to try the comer tool to see if worked today. I don't think he was going to try to upgrade it yet though.

I know someone said they were going to try a 3TB drive, but they ordered online so they won't get it for a week or so.
In a way I'm hoping it doesn't work because if it does, I can see myself buying a 3TB drive and installing it in my Elite. When my plans were originally not to open up my Elite.

I am doing a copy to a 2TB drive now. I don't have a 3TB drive, but may get in the next couple days to try.
If a 3TB drive worked, wouldn't Weaknees be offering it? Their max capacity Elite is one with a 2TB internal and a 2TB external.

It could be like the original 2TB upgrade and the original Premiere upgrade. They had to reverse engineer it first. They may also be waiting to see the demand or if someone else is able to get it out there first. I don't think anyone has done a 3TB upgrade on a Premiere yet either. I know Weaknees doesn't list one.

I have a feeling 2TB may be enough for most.

If I remember the filesystem limitations correctly, I don't expect you'll be able to expand a 2TB copy on a 3TB drive, but it really doesn't take anything but time to try. I can always use the 3TB drive for something else if it doesn't work.

As for no one really needing more than 2TB of space ... 3TB isn't really crazy if you are talking about the hub of a whole-home system.
2TB isn't that much. I have 3TB in the two Premieres that my Elite will be replacing and they are usually 80 to 90% full. (But I can also offload some of that to my TiVo Desktop server if I really wanted to). That is why if a 3TB drive works I will probably open my Elite up to put one in.
