I already had 9.2 the other day, but just got 9.2j this morning announcing official support of eSATA.

But where's my MRV??

The MRV status has to be changed on your account (system info screen) from i,i,i to a,a,a. I would presume that Tivo would do this once they've rolled out whatever 9.x final release to the general public.

9.2x will NOT include MRV or TTG. This is a misleading concept on the part of several other forum goers posting notes on the 9.2 patch. Tivo has stated that 9.2 is for eSATA enabling in Series 3's , and viewing of movies while downloading them from Amazon Unboxed. THAT'S IT.

No MRV. That is still due in November.
As Adam said in the other thread that is being discussed, do you really think that they're going to roll a third new software update in 2 months to get this next month?

The code has got to be in there, but even if it is, we're not going to see it until Tivo allows us to at the server end of things.

TokyoShoe..welcome from another Houstonian. I assume you are a Comcast user (gotta love that 15% price increase this month, eh?)

Have you seen any announcement from TiVo as to what is actually in (or not in) 9.2? While I realize MRV is not active at this time, I was under the impression 9.x has the code for it. It just takes a flip of some switch in TiVo HQ to make it live.

BTW, have you had any of the pixellation that many of us Houston cable users have had? I had several unwatchable channels (312/313/290), that have miraculously started working again with 9.1.

They better. The MRV they fielded in 9.1 is a terrible downgrade in performance on S2 boxes.

How so? I hadn't noticed any issues, but I haven't been spending a lot of time with my S2's lately. Overall speed is down?

Transfer speed is up somewhat on my system, all other components (navigation etc.) are glacial and get even worse when navigating to a box currently involved in a transfer. Additionally have had situations where transfers could not be stopped short of unplugging the source box and where the box would hang up refusing to respond to remote commands until it was reset. I'd rate it somewhat above a disaster but not far.

Others have reported the same.

If it performs the same way when the S3 users get it I'd expect a howl nearly as loud as the crowd in Lane Stadium on Homecoming weekend - except it won't be cheering.

Cool, thanks (or very not-cool, actually)- I'll look at that when I get home (and I'm looking forward to being a part of that crowd next Thursday night against BC :D).
We've watched a couple of programs on our S2 (Pioneer 810H) since the upgrade and have only noticed improvements.

Are you sure you got 9.2j? I understood it was only being released to S3/THD units.
Sorry... I got confused about which thread I was posting in. I thought we were talking about problems with 9.1.
My bad, RoyK and my side conversation drifted into S2 and 9.1-land.
Okay, so I wasn't going crazy. The performance problem mentioned was with 9.1 on S2s. Whew! :)
Well, you still may be going crazy, but this thread isn't a symptom. :)

In any event, we're still waiting for Tivo to flip the big switch and turn on the MRV that matters.
I just got off the phone with a TiVo customer rep. It was one of their service retention reps (I was cancelling service on a very old unit with a dead hard drive) who are usually the upper tier of reps.

Anyway, we were talking about me adding a TiVo HD and I said one of the things that made me hesitate was lack of MRV yet.

She assured me that the 9.2 software update enables MRV. I told her, no, I've been reading on the forum that's supposed to be coming sometime in November.

She said let me check, came back a few minutes later saying, "No, sir, if you have 9.2 you have MRV."

I made sure we were talking about the HD models. She said yes. I told her again there's no one on the forums who is saying MRV has been activated.

"Let me check again ... no, sir, multi-room viewing is active in the latest software."

She even gave me a case number to verify we had the conversation ( not that a case number is going to do any good. Either MRV is on or it isn't, regardless of any case number).

So what's the deal? Does anyone have MRV on an HD model? Is it time for me to get out the checkbook and make the plunge? Is it maybe in the software but a switch needs to be thrown at TiVo HQ?

Anyone who has MRV on an HD unit at this time would be prohibited from saying so publicly.

We've been told, repeatedly, that it is coming in November. (And no, that doesn't necessarily mean November 1, and it could indeed mean November 30...)

For max press and Christmas/Black Friday TiVo HD sales, they need to put out the press release prior to Thanksgiving. Of course they could always flip the switch to actually enable the software after, but I'd bank on seeing it before Turkey Day. If it were me, I'd schedule the announcement two weeks after the eSATA+hard drive partners one, which we should see next week or the week after.

So that means unless you're in a beta test, it isn't active yet?
