Two CableCards needed for Tivo HD?

I'm trying to get prepped before a technician comes out again to fix my Tivo:

What I would like to know is if the Tivo HD even needs two CableCards if one of them is Multi-stream. I see slot two only takes single-stream anyway. I have Comcast and the CC are from Motorola. Sorry for creating a new thread by no one was answering my questions in the main Comcast CC thread.

If you put a multi stream in slot 1 then you dont need any card in slot 2.

Are they ever going to implement this for the S3. It'd save me a few extra bucks per month. Unless there's a benefit to dual M-Cards vs. single?
Thanks for your help. Tech came out and re-hit the card and everything suddenly started to work.
