two boxes - two different signal strengths?

801 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  eddieras99
question for you guys - i have a HR 10-250 and a GXCEBOT

i've had problems with rain fade since i got satellite. sometimes even a light rain. i've have had them out here about 4 times (have the protection plan), each time the tech finds something different, but its never perfect.

we had some rain yesterday and couldn't pull in channels on the HR so i check the strength and i got 0% on sat 2- i immediately test the GXCEBOT and i have 52% on sat 2.

to me sounds like the run to the HR or perhaps the multiswitch? or am i completely off track - which very well could be! any help/ advice would be appreciated.

thanks!

What sat were you checking? Did you check the same transponder on the two units? What transponder? What are your signal strengths for all transponders on both sat inputs on both units? Is there a pattern in the readings? Swap the input cables and see if things change.
i checked the signal on sat 2 thru system check - i would assume an aggregate reading - did not check by transponder.
Maybe it's just coincidence (or better aiming) but ever since I had the slimline 5 lnb dish installed I've had less rain fade.

It is not an aggregate reading. Each TP will have its own value.

Why are you posting inside "code" tags? And, what did you sign up for? Here?

thanks- i understand about the different tps- but the general system test still tests only 1 tp ? i'm a bit confused. wouldn't the system test yield the same results across boxes?
