I agree. He is. But I actually enjoyed last nights episode much more than the others this year.

Just a bunch of cliche jokes...another totally forgettable episode.

Cliche jokes is what this whole series has been about. So it felt more like it used to to me.

Alan's recital if his history was hysterical. The show is past its transition and settling in nicely.

Are you sure you're not mistakenly watching reruns? I had deleted my SP a couple weeks ago, but just watched this one out of curiosity. The best parts were the ones that Kutcher was NOT in...

.5 man didn't even show up. And he's supposedly one of the highest paid "child" actor.

I would say he has a great gig. Getting paid tons of money and is rarely even on the show.

No. I don't watch shows to compare them to how they were last year. I watch to watch that half hour and it was funny.

3 year SP is now.....gone!

Is the show as good as it was? No.
Is it the same as it was? No.
Is it funny? Yes, starting with episode 9-4
Funny enough to survive this season? I doubt it.

And yes, Kutcher is playing Kelso 2.0 post dot-com windfall.

Things I don't like
- Berta's mental comments. Her character has NEVER held her tongue.
- Is Schmidt a lovestruck sap or a ladies man. Pick one.
- All Jake does now is fart.
- Recycled actors for new characters. Took me 2 episodes to figure out why Alan and Herb's sister (Judy Greer - now Schmidt's wife) appeared not to know each other.

And actor's always complain about being typecast? From what I've heard, the "best" actors are always typecast to a degree as they are really just playing off of their own personality.

As for actor re-use, they do that quit a bit in THM. If I remember, "Chelsea" was the first female that Charlie ran into on the very first episode. I think it was in a supermarket.

Yes, she played suzanne in ep 1 in the store. And 2 other characters not including Chelsea.

I thought this was worse than others this season, but still funny.

But I laughed (at least internally, since I very rarely laugh out loud when watching something by myself) at the line (approx) "The casting director said he'd get me on 'Melrose Place'", since RIGHT before that I was thinking exactly "Alison wouldn't've done a movie like that."

Sorry, but I have to ask. You laugh at something internally when you're alone, but would laugh out loud at that very same thing when not alone?

This post is very well-written and reflects my thoughts about the show exactly.
However, I still watch for some reason.
Ashton is so appealing. Even if he is the worst actor on the earth.

The recycled actresses.
Ii bet someone on the show is sleeping with them.
Nothing else could explain such lazy and offensive-to-the-viewers'-intelligence casting.

I see nothing wrong with it. Lots of TV shows use the same actors over the years to play side parts. Big deal. Why is it lazy? It is more showing a theater group type mentality, where you use the same actors in different roles.

There was an actor (forget his name) who appeared in the majority of the old Dick Van **** shows, never as the same character.

It is not insulting to the viewers intelligence. In fact, assuming that an actor can play only one role would be insulting as it would mean the audience is too dumb to know that they are ACTORS and not real.

It could be much simpler than that.

A lot of time, casting directors recommend certain actors (and actresses) simply because they can be counted on to be reliable.

Casting directors (Who BTW, can only recommend actors. The producers do the actual casting) and producers often have actors that they like to use because they show up on time, learn their lines, hit their marks, give a performance they like, and do not cause production problems.

And if you're already dealing with Charlie Sheen, not having to deal with "unknown" actors is a big plus.

I don't know about him, but I do this, too. I rarely, if ever, laugh aloud at something when I'm alone. But with people? I laugh a lot.

I have no idea why.

Yes, and that's not uncommon. I've seen it mentioned by many others, and I think there have even been studies about it.
