This is my first time watching this show. I've been told to expect coffee and pie. My first few reactions were somewhat negative.

Who's this fibbi that keeps talking to his secretary and does the poor girl have to type all this up?

Wow, I don't remember 1990s phones being so loud and annoying.

Overacting! The sherriff doesn't even tell Palmer that Laura's dead and he's bawling.

And the hair!

But, overall, interesting show. I'll be back for Ep 2 in a few nights when my wife can watch it with me.

Special Agent Dale Cooper.

In addition to coffee and pie, expect donuts. :)
I still remember being 16 and living in the podunk midwest and watching the first episode and thinking, 'oh my gosh, this is so incredible! i can't believe stuff like this exists!'

So even if it seems a bit dated now, it was amazing way back when. I looked it up, and Northern Exposure premiered about 3 months after this. Talk about two shows that changed how I viewed the cultural world!
I certainly watched Northern Exposure from D1 but missed TP some how.

I'm terrible with names, but I should have remembered Dale Cooper, being a main character and all. Man, he takes some pointless notes. It's as if he's a wanna be writer and

Does anyone have a suspect list? I want to put everyone in town on it.

Biker dude buried the other half of the heart and someone in leather gloves dug it up. Laura's "boyfriend" is a real piece of work. Maybe I need to watch again more closely.

Everyone in that town is a piece of work.
Yeah... the show has a lot of characters. And they are ALL characters.

Bobby Briggs is nothing compared to others. :)

Yes, yes you do.

There's quite a bit of cigarette smoking, too.
I finally started watching... is the editing bad on purpose? Seriously, it will dissolve from one scene to the other, and rather than a smooth musical transition, it almost gets faded out and WHAM, cut off. The same thing with cuts, they're unnatural sometimes.

I'm trying to give it a decent shot due to the show's reputation, but so far it's difficult.

Might be where there was a commercial originally.
I tried last night. Again. I actually watched most of the first episode and then said eh and turned it off. I went back an hour later to try again and started with episode 4 thinking maybe I just needed to get past the whole Laura died bit and into the mystery part. Nope. Ten minutes later I gave up. I am surprised because I have so many friends that swear by this show. Oh well.
