My TV has started coming back on after I shut it off. I will have watched a show that
was on my list, told the TiVo to delete it, which it does. I put down the remote, leave
the room and in just a few minutes, my TV comes back on to regular programs.
Holy Twilight Zone, Batman! What's up?
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim Halford

I assume you mean the TV was on but the TiVo was in a menu? That is normal. Your TiVo will only stay in the menus for 15 min. after the last remote signal it recieves. Then it will go into live TV.

To keep it quiet, you have a couple choices: pause in a recorded program (will stay paused forever and will not go into live TV, but beware screen burn in); turn the TV off; mute the TV; or send another signal with the remote and buy another 15 min.

My receiver sometimes does this. Another possibilty, besides the remote sending unwanted signals is this........

What time of day is it? And do you get lots of light in a window that shines right at the IR sensor on the TV?

I think what happens to my receiver and your TV is so much sunlight coming in and the sensor is getting bombarded with IR as a result and it is enough to cause the equipment to turn on.

My Tivos may be a little different, but Muting mine only lasts for the stated 15 minutes, too. If I don't want the sound to come back on (while on a phone call, for example), I just turn the sound down as far as it will go.

No, I bet you're right. Now that I think about it my TiVo is all wired through my reciever in an unusual way and I don't use mute that much, so I bet your muting information is more accurate than mine. Everything else I posted should work though.
