i am a Comcast user with just a 1000gb bolt since 2015 and obviously a cable card.
I got the letter from Comcast about losing my international channel on2/25. My bolt is 90% full of Japanese tv programming that I do not want to lose.
Apparently I can continue to get my Japanese programming with the upgrade to X1 but I can’t connect my TiVo to the x1.
So, my TiVo has to become an expensive paperweight!!!!L
Can I connect my TiVo via the HDMI cable directly to my tv for the sole purpose of just watching/deleting my current 90%. Obviously I will have to return my cable card.

And you can cancel Tivo service and still watch recorded videos.
By the way, why can you no longer watch your channel? Comcast has a habit of not telling the truth.
I was going to say the same, I wouldn't trust Comcast on this one unless you're getting independent confirmation here or on another forum

Make a complaint to the FCC, I dont believe comcast is allowed to discriminate against a tivo user in this way. FCC complaints are fun and easy, and get rapid responses.
The reason OP will not be able to receive the TV Japan channel on his TiVo is because Comcast is moving that (and other international channels) to IP service.

The pertinent Xfinity web page includes this express caveat (in very small print at the bottom of the page:rolleyes:): "Please note that not all channels and packages are available in all areas, and may require a compatible Xfinity TV Box. If you have older Xfinity equipment, you may need to upgrade before adding International programming."

I believe that you would be able to continue to receive Japan TV without an X1 STB on your account if you connect to the Xfinity Stream app on a Roku or similar streaming device (or via the Xfinity Stream web page). This will not allow you to record the content on your TiVo and thus may not serve your purpose, but it does resolve your concern over losing the channel.

Any chance tivo can put xfinity stream app? Comcast is trying to force international channels subscriber to get their equipment as they’re moving all the int’l channels to 3000+ channels. Another way to milk more money from us.

Yes I know but only on beta format you can't view recordings... Comcast is doing a scam to collect more money from subscriber
You will never be able to view the recordings on your TiVo via the Xfinity Stream app; the app cannot read the TiVo HDD.

Instead, you can use the app, even now, to watch any of the live TV channels in your subscription package as well as VOD.

As far as collecting money from subscribers is concerned, the app is free! Even when it is fully deployed, the ad-supported version will remain free to most Xfinity subscribers with a $5 p.m. upcharge for the ad-free version according to the currently announced plans.

Its been called Beta forever. Dont I remember recording shows with that app? I think you get the option to watch, record or subscribe when you choose a channel from the guide. Its not TIVO but you can at least watch and (maybe) record your shows.

I think it depends on your programming package you have with them. Mine allows for 10 hours of cloud DVR, so I can record and play recordings back from the xFinity Stream app.

Yes, the Xfinity Stream (XS) app has been in beta status (e.g., lacking the full features of the web portal) for over three years; every now and then when I have occasion to talk to a Comcast technical support rep I ask whether they have heard of any new app developments and the answer is always a shoulder shrug:rolleyes:.

Assuming that you do not have Xfinity X1 service (e.g., using only a CableCARD-enabled TiVo video device on your account), you cannot record anything via the XS app. You can, however, save a program to your Favorites, which is tantamount to a cloud recording for all intents and purposes. I do this frequently.

Actually, the 3 Roku's I set up last week were able to play the recordings...from the Comcast DVR...

None of the shows that were played, or re-played, were Beta shows...-KP
If you have a Comcast DVR or "cloud recording" authorized on your account, then of course you will have recording (or cloud saving) capabilities on the Xfinity ecosphere. That is a different matter from recording or playback via a TiVo device on the same account.

In my case, the XS app limitations are even more severe. My Digital Starter video service is provided by the bulk-services agreement from my HOA. Since the original agreement (which is about to enter its tenth and final year) did not include HD, I do not get any of the HD linear channels on the XS app. Even though I do get these HD channels on my TiVo via the CableCARD provision, the app execution will look for a specific HD Technology flag on my account and, in its absence, fails to authorize those channels. Nonetheless, the app will allow me to stream VOD in HD; it's just the linear channels that are blocked.

I've done extensive investigation on this question and that is the upshot of what I was able to ferret out.

Well that's pretty much exactly what I said......"it depends on which programming package you have".

My response wasn't to anyone about whether you could record on your TiVo or not. It was to someone talking about recording on xFinity Stream.

I do not have a Comcast box or an X1, just two cablecards from them. My programming package specifically states 10 hours of Cloud DVR included, hence it is dependent on which programming package you have, not whether you have an X1 or any TV box from them.

That is an interesting detail that I have not heard before. How, exactly, does the cloud recording function for you lacking the X1 interface? Could you share some screen shots that depict the recording options including how the list of recorded programs is displayed?

If what you say is true, it must be a change that came about with the switchover to the "Simple & Easy" service structure.
