Maybe I've just seen him in L&O too much, but it doesn't seem like a good fit. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.
Well, here's my speculation, but since it's from the books, I'm going to go ahead and put it in spoiler tags
Well, ancient vampire might be Eric's maker, Appius Livius Ocella. If so, it will be interesting if they add Alexi Romanov to the mix.
If it isn't Appius, then I'm going to assume that it is Victor Madden or King Felipe Castro - Victor makes more sense, as we don't see the King much. But the way the book is written, Castro takes over Louisiana because Sophie Ann (the Queen) wasn't physically capable of defending her empire. Since Bill is currently King, they'll have to figure a way around it.

I am guessing he will be a bit more "visible" in this role. Most of the men on True Blood spend half of their scenes naked. Chris Meloni spent most of his time on Oz naked and I expect the same from this show.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. So I'm guessing it's the latter guess. It would have been interesting seeing the storyline, though, with the Romanov.I think the tv series already deviated from that part by having
