Surprised there's not a thread already... I figured with the amount of people on here that hate Tara there would be a freaking party going on... Definitely didn't see that coming. I was never a Tara hater so I'm sad to see her go but at least she went out saving someone else. It seems an odd choice to have her die at the hands of a character she's never even met, and a character who really isn't that significant. Debbie's rage seemed misplaced and grossly over-reactive considering the fact that all she saw was Alcide carrying mortally wounded Sookie home--it's not like they banged in front of her.

Next season s/b interesting, with Eric and Bill on the run and Russell Edgington back... That would be a lot more interesting if his return wasn't telegraphed the minute they put him a few feet under ground with some silver around him instead of just killing him. Easily the weakest writing the who has done in it's entire run. It just makes no sense on any level, especially since as he was being buried he was swearing unending misery on the whole group of them. Given how easily Bill and Eric have taken human and Vampire lives it makes no sense that they left Russell alive... so they deserve what happens.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Renee's new war buddy brings with him, and what's up with Steve Newlin (nice twist there)...

I thought Debbie going after Sookie made sense. She would blame her, rightly or wrongly, for everything that went wrong between her and Alcide.

Wouldn't Sookie's terror and despair at seeing Tara get her head blown off cause Eric and Bill to come running and heal Tara? I assume that is what will happen in episode 1 of next season.

Interested to see the Terry story develop. Loved seeing that Cajun dude again. What ever happened with the possessed baby? Was that explained by the slave woman ghost?
I've forgotten (or never knew?) the True Blood rules for killing a werewolf. Does it take a silver bullet? Is Debbie necessarily dead?

I wouldn't think Sam should have much trouble fighting a werewolf. Just become a tiger or something to fight, or a bird to fly away.

I guess I'm thinking in "normal" terms... I see Debbie hating Sookie and I know they foreshadowed it throughout the season, but I still think going after someone with a loaded shot gun is a serious move in this case. STill, it is TV.

I'm sure Bill and Eric will coming running in, but I'll be surprised if they can heal Tara. The writers had a lot of choices going into that scene and they chose to have Debbie fire a shot gun into the back of Tara's skull. Her head is nearly completely blown off... I just don't see her getting healed. Plus don't you have to still be alive for them to heal you? I think Tara is definitely dead in that final scene, as opposed to simply getting shot and having it be a question mark. Of course on TB dead doesn't always mean dead so maybe there's a plan for her but I don't see her getting turned or healed at all.

I think the possessed baby was explained by the woman. She found Mikey because he had the doll the had gotten for her baby and since she was sort of "trapped" between worlds, she got confused and thought he was her baby, so all the stuff she did was because she was trying to get him back. I think the main point of that storyline was to show that Lafayette can be possessed by the dead, which came into play later.

She looked pretty dead, but with vamp blood around I'm not counting anyone out until we know for sure they're dead and buried. After that we'll only have to see her once a season, on Halloween apparently :).

I don't think she was doing it because she thought Alcide slept with Sookie; she thought that last week and her big idea was to cheat with the wolfpack leader. She went over the edge when Alcide abjured her: she lashed out at the person she felt caused that... and actually she was right, in a way (although it was her own fault, Sookie was the catalyst).

It's amazing how they cleared the decks in just a couple of episodes: not only did they clean up a bunch of plotlines like Marnie and Tommy, but they got rid of Jesus, Tara (maybe), Nan, and Debbie. We may even be done with Hoyt since he doesn't seem to have a plotline anymore and he and Jason are kaput (of course he could be back with something else to do).

I agree it was fun to see Rev. Steve. I was wondering if Russell had anything to do with that. I also was wondering if Jason would be savvy enough to not allow himself to be glamored into letting Steve into the house (I always thought it was bogus that a human could be glamored into inviting a vampire... what the heck kind of protection is that?!?!)

What ever happened with the possessed baby? Was that explained by the slave woman ghost?
I believe so.

I think it was mentioned that Newlin has been missing for 6 months. So probably not Russell, since he seems to have just surfaced.
I love Tara and hope she comes back with the quickness. Sookie was wasting time screaming and she could have gotten her boyfriends over to patch her up.
IMO Tara's was done as far as storylines go. I didn't hate her like some, but she was pretty one-note.
I thought the whole episode was like a bad soap opera with killing of major characters thrown in for season finale effect.

No way Tara is dead.

Besides which if you look at it in slow motion it looks like the bullet hit the kitchen cabinet behind her FIRST and the spraying of everything was glass flying everywhere.
I'm not even entirely sure it hit her in the head.

I can already see the first scene of next season.
Just like every cliffhanger episode of this season she'll be miraculously saved in the first 60 seconds.
I'm sorry to see Nan go. I liked her. Pam raving about Sookie's stupid name was funny.

So where did the enormous pool of blood under her head come from?

I don't care either way but girlfriend was shot bad.
Regarding that scene where all the dead people show up and talk Marnie out of her evil plot... that was the stupidest thing I've seen in while.
I liked that scene. It fit in with the premise that Marnie is fighting because she felt persecuted, but wasn't truly a bad woman. Sometimes people just need some help and encouragement to put down that anger and walk away.
Duh! It was Russell's grave in the parking garage. What a dope I am.

Thanks, OP!

ETA: But it's Terry's war budy, not Rene's.
I expected Jesus to die in the finale, that was pretty easy to predict . . . but I had no idea they were planning to off Tara. Wow. Color me shocked!

Otoh, I'm in the "she might not be dead" camp because on this show, really anything is possible. That was an awful lot of blood on the floor, but Eric and/or Bill could come zipping in pretty quickly and give her a rapid V transfusion, so I am not ready to say goodbye to Tara just yet. (Although I'd like to, I'd be happy to see the character go.)

I also did not expect Newlin to show up as a vamp! I figured he'd show up eventually b/c his disappearance has been mentioned a few times, but I did not expect that.

And welcome Noel! I mean Scott Foley! :D He is always welcome on my TV. Although Terry did not look very happy to see him, so that makes me worry for poor Terry. :(

Good riddance to skanky Debbie. And I welcome Russell's return next year, I'd love to see him battling Eric and Bill again.

ETA: I forgot about Nan! I really liked that character, so I will miss her. But given her "true death to everyone!" stance lately re Bill and Eric, I guess she had to die so they could stay on the show. And they aren't going anywhere, not anytime soon anyway. It was either her or them.

Sookie was wasting time screaming and she could have gotten her boyfriends over to patch her up.
I'm not sure I understand that comment. I thought that was why Sookie was screaming for help, to get Eric and/or Bill to come running to help her (Tara). They have that psychic blood connection and they can feel her emotions. Why else would she be screaming "please help me!" if she did not think that her agony and despair, and plea for help would be heard (felt) by Eric and Bill? Who else is going to hear her?

Actually, Nan had to die because she figured out Sookie was a fairie. Not because she had called for Eric's and Bill's death. Although it may have been prudent to keep her alive long enough to get her to talk about anyone else who might know about Sookie's secret.
I expected Jesus to die in the finale
I know that is the character's name
- but I still found the above sentence amusing.
Good riddance to skanky Debbie.
I'm not sure why everyone seems to assume Debbie is dead. Is there some True Blood mythology about werewolves that I am missing? Can they be killed with one bullet, and probably not a silver bullet? (was there any reason to believe Debbie's gun was loaded with silver bullets?)
