Trouble with call in

I have 3 DTV Tivo's 1 RCA DVR40, 1 Samsung DVR40 both SD and HR10-250
The two SD tivo's will not make a call, it always fails on dialing. There is a dial tone but it fails everytime. Also it will connect on the other end but I guess it will not complete the connection. The HR10 did call in when I switched call in numbers, but when I try and switch numbers on the 2 SD units it has to dial in to get the numbers and it fails even when it does that. It has not made a succesfull call since 8-14 on one and 8-8 on the other. I am in Memphis Tn. Any suggestions I could try. I even tried using the same phone line that worked on the HR10 but still it failed on the Samsung DVR40. Anyone else having this problem. Also I have Comcast phone service but up until now have had zero trouble calling in to the DVR service.

Thx

Phone calls are not necessary with DirecTV TiVos. Just make sure you delete the nag messages before you get too many.
My only concern is will I get the new updates that DTV called about without it calling in. My HR10 recieved 6.3e last night. Also, I had to change dial in numbers on the HR10 to get it to call in, however when I try to do this on the 2 SD units it has to dial in to retrieve the list of numbers. I will not make a connection then either. I was able to connect to 2 zips 615 and 662 but when I used any of the numbers adding the 1 and area code it will dial, answer but fail to make a connection. I have unlimited long dist so calling long dist is no big deal. I tried many other area codes with no luck including mine 901. I called DTV and of crs they want to replace the 2 revievers with new ones. R15's I would presume but they want me to do a clear and delete everything first. What bites about that is I have the 1999-2000 Super Bowl with my Rams winning it all on one of the recievers and since I will probl Never see The Rams win another one in my lifetime I hate having to delete it.

Do you have access to a normal land line you could try?
I'll have to let others with VOIP help you.

As for the Rams winning the Superbowl, I'd archive it to DVD.
Don't worry, the Rams will never win another SuperBowl. :)

I have had Comcast Digital voice for about 4 mths and no problems at all. This all started on 8-8 on one reciever and 8-14 on the other. Plus the HR10 was able to call in. This is a strange problem that may be a problem on the recieving end since the first number would not work on all 3 DVR's. If clear and delete won't work on the one reciever I can't see how it would help the other so I am just going to do it on the one that does not have much on it.

Another ? does the reciever have to be connected to DTV to call in and update. I can take it to my Dad's house to try but he does not have DTV
If the receiver has the update on the hard drive, then connecting the phone at your Father's should be able to activate the software. A sat connection isn't needed.
The number it was set to had worked for months. When I dialed it with a phone I would get the expected modem tone. The receiver couldn't make a connection. I changed to a different number and it worked fine.

That worked on my HR10 because there was a list of numbers to choose from, but when I tried changing numbers on the other 2 it had to dial in to get the numbers and it would fail when it did that.

The first reciever just finished it's clear and delete all and it now connects. Another strange thing on the other one is when I did a repeat guided set-up it failed to find sats 119 and 110. Could be a connection problem at the dish, but I don't see how that should effect the phone calls. It could also be something was corupted in the software on the last callin. I am going to try guide set up again on the other one and see what happens
Thx again
I didn't notice that you weren't able to dial in to get the list of numbers. That indicates a problem with your unit.
I took the reciever to my dad's house and hooked it up to his Land line and bam it dialed in first try. I changed the number to the 374- number and it dialed in, updated to 6.3. When I got it home I hooked it up and now it dials and connects on my Comcast phone. I still think it is either the phone line being weak or maybe still a reciever issue, or a bit of both. The other thing it does is this. When I ran guided set-up it would not detect sat's 119 or 110, however when I ran a signal test on those sats they came in at over 90%. I have a tech coming Tuesday so I will let you know what it was.

Problem could be that the last installer that hooked up the 5 lnd dish hooked up the Zinwell 6x8 outside. 2 lines come from it to the inside and go into another multi-switch that feeds the reciever in the bedroom that is having detection problems and the R15 in the Living room. To much room for something to go wrong there IMO. The installer just did not want to run the lines from the dish straight to the reciever when he came out. He also left the 3 lnb dish up that feeds just the HR10-250
