Well... It's been a looong time since I was here. I hope I'm in the right Forum.
First off, let me say up front, I upload a LOT of my Tivo Roamio shows to my laptop so I can watch them at work during the night shift. I am fortunate that I have a job that allows me to do that.
I have been having a strange problem uploading shows from CERTAIN CHANNELS lately. This started about 3-4 months. I live in the NYC/NJ area and have PBS Channel 13 from NY and Channel 12 from Philly. Whether I use Tivo Desktop, pyTivo and/or KMTTG to upload the programs, I get the same problem - Windows Media Player will play the first 10 MINUTES fine. The timer at the bottom will only show the first 10 to 10-1/2 minutes. After that, the timer will stop, and the program will continue to play (!?!), BUT I can't pause, forward or rewind it. Media Player will CRASH.
I am able to "convert" the .tivo files using KMTTG and even MS Movie Maker, but at that same point (~10 min) the audio and video go out of sync for the rest of the show. If the show is two hours long, everything goes to hell at about the 21 minute mark.
Has anyone else experienced this?
A few other channels are affected the same way - MeTV and Ovation are the only ones I've identified so far. All the regular Networks are fine, thank goodness.

P.S. I can still perfectly play old PBS Tivo files I still have on my hard drive from 2020.

You got your upload/download term mixed up. It should be download because you are receiving the transfer. KMTTG can only download. Upload is when you are sending a transfer file.

You should get VideoReDo (at least the TVSuite version). It is not free, but the cost is well worth it. You would need to do Quick StreamFix to fix the syncing issues, as well as adding the ability to remove unwanted content such as commercials. Yes, you can even watch using VideoReDo. (I use VRD on all my Tivo video files. I am OTA, so no compression.)

MediaPlayer does not let you REW/FF except for dragging/clicking on the time bar.

Its the Tivo's fault, when you transfer from it, it has to decode from its TivoServiceNumber into MediaAccessKey coding. (or that is the jist of it.)

At one point there was a pretty severe problem when there was a change in the recording format, like changing from 720P to 540I to play a commercial. It would lock and crash one's TiVo and force a reboot in the middle of a play-back; very inconvenient.

If I remember correctly, in my area the problem happened only on a few channels. Your problem could be something similar.
