This series just gets better and better. When Will showed up at the end to save the guys from being captured I actually yelled out "oh yeah!" I was really on the edge of my seat through most of that sequence. I can't wait to see the finale next week. I hope Tyler gets a chance to pay back daddy.

What a great show! I can't believe it's going to end so soon. This would have been a perfect show to run a half season during the fall or spring. I wonder why they felt they had to cut it short and run it in the summer.

My local ABC dorked the digital soundtrack as it often does. Watching it in CC with only sound effects was quite annoying.]

Was there an episode last week? If so I think I missed it :(.

Shawn, I've had same issue several times and with ABC. What is really wrong is that all the speech comes out of one speaker, the center one, on 5,1. It is then not even stereo. Why do they do that? You ought to hear it on all the speakers, then if they did lose one you would still hear. what ever happened to left and right?

I think it's the normal 5.1 mix, but with the center channel missing the 2 channel down convert gets a whole lot of nothing.

I still hear the voices echoing in the room, just not the original sound. It's quite distracting - lol.

Closed Captions worked so I could tell what's going on.

Yes

BTW, Traveler only received a 2.5/4 rating last night, far behind the top 2. Looks like not too many other people agree with us about the quality of this show. Not good news for similar shows like this.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy though. ABC cuts the order and puts it on in the summer, essentially telling viewers that it's not very good and there's no reason to watch it. They should then not be surprised if viewers don't watch.

Series finale. It was originally supposed to be 13 week show for the Fall, but ABC decided they didn't want it and decided to cut it to 8 and burn them off during the summer. They made the decision early in production to give producers time to rework the script; the producers supposedly had to scramble to rework the show in order to fit the 5 un-filmed episodes worth of stuff into it. There are lots of jettisoned scenes and side plots we'll never see such as a bigger part that Jay's girlfriend was supposed to have.

TV Guide podcast said there's perhaps going to be some blanks that don't get filled in the finale, but one of the producers is supposed to have some blog somewhere where he'll put up some content that answers questions that the show never resolves, if they can't resolve everything in the finale.

They also went back and reshot scenes for the existing episodes when the order was cut, going so far as to do further casting (i.e., add new characters). So at least it looks like it wasn't just a cut-n-paste job.

While I have enjoyed the short series it has rivaled 24 in terms of believability. The every week (and sometimes more) chase scenes have reminded me of an old show "Run Buddy Run" which was one of the worst in television history. How many times can these kids escape the FBI and police (would anyone ever get away even once in these types of situations). And Will showing up in the back alley was certainly shocking because how in the world would he ever be there in the first place?

My wife and I really like this show, and will be sad to see it go. But I agree that they did the right thing in letting the producers know early so that they could wrap it up. It's a perfect mini-series as is.

I'm sure that Will showing up would have been explained more thoroughly had they not been limited to the 8 episodes instead of the original 13. They had a story arc, then had to condense it. I thought it was strange too, but I'd much rather it be a little less believable and have a true ending than to not get any closure.

And there's no reason why next episode can't begin with "What the hell are YOU doing here?!?", followed by a perfectly logical explanation...

What's with the wrapping up of programing early during the Summer? It's not like ABC has something that is much better waiting in the wings. Are ratings during the Summer really something that ABC should be concerned with? I would think that they would be more concerned with the creator/producer of one of their flagship programs doing so many other things and not devoting more time to the show that suffered tremendously last season.

The order was cut way back in the fall. They didn't make the decision based on summer ratings. They made the decision based on not wanting to produce any more episodes than were already made, and then figured they'd at least air them sometime rather than never air them at all.

Should we assume you're talking about J.J. Abrams? If so, he's not been very involved with LOST since the pilot. His name was attached from the beginning to give it some credibility, but it's always been Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse's show.

To elaborate, he became VERY involved in the pilot, but you're right--not so much since then.
